I mean....just LISTEN to Resurrection.

It is no surprise to me that Common's new stuff is kinda iffy....that CD packed a heater with not even every song, but every single line! Like no lines were wasted on that CD....everything was hitting. I wouldn't be surprised if dude just ran out lol.

Now days if rappers come up with a good line...they emphasis the shit out of it....have a dj play it back, write a whole song around one decent line....Common just flew by sick lines and if you aren't paying attention it can just go past you.

I've played I Used to Love H.E.R. in my car and dudes were just listening and thinking it was aight, then i was like no fuck this we're stopping the car and you need to HEAR what this dude is saying....and all teh sudden they were hearing it and found out how sick that track is. It's like...unless you're really looking for it...Common's skill can go right past you.

But he went down South, and fell in love call me love
cause love is gonna getcha I'ma getcha
I'm like B.J. my Arm is Strong and I Stretch ya

lines like that go right past most people who either don't know the reference or just aren't paying attention...but dude is sick with his! And I know this better than anyone cause I used to think he sucked, before I ever really gave him a good thorough listen, now I feel like a damn fool for sleepin on him.

I noticed nobody said LL Cool J...And that is a good thing...

Notorious B.I.G. was good, but not top 5 of all time...

So why does the net hate LL?

And why no talk about lupe. I'm not talking top 5 now. But why no mention of the man?

For me, Lupe just hasn't put out enough material to really make his way into the discussion....not to mention no recent material. I hear he's working on a new CD that may drop soon...I think when that does, depending on the reception, he may get back in the discussion....but most people just probably have forgotten about him.

and while that quote was brought up, I actually have been listening to Big Will...and the dude can rock the fucking mic man....fuck what anyone says...Will Smith is a good rapper lol.

Top New Under-the-Surface and "Indie" Rappers (1999 onward)

1. Nujabes - collaborative underground jazz hip-hop rappers converge under super-smooth beats producer Jun Seba, otherwise known under his professional moniker of Nujabes. Each and every individual song is like a new sampling of auditory velvet.

2. MF DOOM (soon to be simply known as "DOOM") king of the collaborations, alternative personas, and humorous off-the-wall "where did that reference come from?" lines. Eclectic, yes. Overhyped, not nearly enough.

3. Lupe Fiasco ... kid's got some good indicative rhyming, I'd love to see him continually produce at the great clip he has done so far

4. Kanye West - Dude created his own following and went from behind-the-scenes producer to arguably the most famous rapper today. I respect his success and talent, therefore, I placed him this high on the list.

5. Brother Ali - verbatim: “They ask me if I’m black or white, I’m neither Race is a made up thing, I don’t believe in it But my genes tie me to those that despise me Made a livin’ killing the ones that inspired me I ain’t just talkin’ bout singing and dancing I was taught life and manhood by black men So a small part of me feels like I am them Does that make a liar? Maybe But I don’t want the white folk that praise me to think that they can claim me Cause you didn’t make me You don’t appreciate what I know to be great yet, you relate to me And that frustrates me and what can I say? Cause I know that I benefit from something I hate But make no mistake our connection ain’t fake It’s never too late to clear off the slate If you follow my tapes then you know what I’m about If something comes up then it must come out “

6. Panacea ... Combining old-school rhyming with soulful beats, the Washington, D.C., duo Panacea have drawn comparisons to revered hip-hoppers like the Roots, Gang Starr, and A Tribe Called Quest. Producer K-Murdock was born and raised in D.C. and had worked with R&B singers Bilal and Raheem DeVaughn before hooking up with Philadelphia MC Raw Poetic. With Poetic's easygoing flow fitting perfectly over Murdock's soulful beats, the two decided to become a team.

7. Cool Calm Pete - Though he was born in Seoul, South Korea, Cool Calm Pete is dedicated to the hip-hop of Queens, where he spent most of his life (he moved there as a small child). As part of the hip-hop trio Babbletron, Pete made his mark on the scene with his smart, witty rhymes and slow delivery.

True, he is probably the least known in this array, but it only takes one song to sum up his potential:

-- Wishes and Luck

??I'm confused. I know where to get his music if i want to find it...it still doesn't put him near the consideration of being in a best rappers of all time discussion. Or even an honorable mention. He has only been in the game since 2006.... people need longevity...it's impossible to know if he has any at this point in time.

Pioneer in terms of what?

As for Busta, I enjoy his music, I don't think he stacks up well in a Best Rapper of All Time discussion, but I do enjoy listening to him from time to time. For what it's worth, "What's It Gonna Be" is one of my favorite songs ever.

Eminem, pioneer for legitimising white people in hiphop as well as bringing it to the mainstream without losing its identity

Agree, Busta isnt top 5 but i think worth an honourable mention
