Right...but that doesn't justify taking a cupcake cuz everyone else took a cake (in a moral sense). But in a realistic sense, I'm not gonna lie, sometimes you gotta take the fuckin cupcake...

LMFAO, dude that cracked me up...
As I so LOVE to fucking say, its all relative...If you are starving and hungry, and you see someone drop $5, it can be looked at as a blessing...If you're happy go lucky, and see someone drop $5, and you pocket it for the hell of it, is it still a blessing..?
Technicalities are everywhere, but I try REALLY hard to not be judgemental...On the surface, you could say one thing or the other, but the is always the 'known knowns, the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns' that make life the great ride it is...

So if you think that everything is relative, does that mean that there aren't any absolutes?
"If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the bottom of everything there were only a wild ferment, a power that twisting in dark passions produced everything great or inconsequential; if an unfathomable insatiable emptiness lay hid beneath everything, what would life be but despair?"

Sure, I think there are certain things that are absolute, but they are physics related...And that's another thread, lol...
I'm trying to see why its cool to bootleg software, but not cool sell a joint...And more imporantly, why its cool for you to sell a website you made with bootlegged software, but not cool for you to take money you made from selling joints and give a kid a free ride to college...

By 'judging' I mean saying things like its moral, immoral, etc...Not necessarily in a condescending way either...I'm just saying I don't knock nobody's hustle...
It helps me live what I feel is a pretty consistent lifestyle...
tt if you're gonna turn down that scholarship money, then you need to cease downloading and using apps that you haven't paid for...Cause truth be told, its the same shit, if not worse...Its a blatant irregularity...

Raum......I have said this time and time again. The man had to legitimately pass a security exchange commission review to show HOW he got the money. ..........What else he has done in hs life or IS DOING is not related to this,.. but it has to be good enough to pass the same review.
me...If your argument has always been he is not a drug dealer than i think you got side tracked because you wrote a lot of posts defending drug dealing and drugs ...Again....If your going to make the argument hes not a dealer or that dealers cant create sum sort of legit monetary award than fine. Ubers thread topic makes no sense and were wasting our time. Thanks a lot Uber. On the other hand because we accepted the question as a reality it became a very interesting discussion and insight into how people think. Thanks a lot Uber.
Uber....Knowing what I know, should I move..? Should I not try to make something positive out of the negatives..? Do you think scholarships and student loans are easy to get and or pay back..?
Uber......On the surface, you could say one thing or the other, but there is always the 'known knowns, the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns' ...
me.......Lets talk about some of the unknown unknowns, Did this kid have other funds besides the scholarship ¦where grants or government help available. Where his parents poor ..or able to afford to help get him to school .Scholarships many times are given because of educational achievements not just because some one is poor. Did the kid have any say in this. How do you know he didnt agree¦ There are all kinds of unknowns but instead you have now framed this debate into some one having no available funds with no other chances in life and who wants to take the money ...so should he.?.... Well duhh¦the answer is yes. If you had framed it that way in the first place there would have been no discussion. Your question in the first post was actually......" A local man established a 50,000 scholarship for students in the community...the guy is a reputed drug dealer...A mother whose son won the scholarship refused the money... ....................If it were you, or your child, would you accept the money..? That is a very different question. that entirely depends on the options you have and whether you see this as a moral question. Also notice that by saying ''.If it were you, or your child' your asking us not just about our kids but whether we would except it for our own education which i assume you meant... if we were the kid.
Uber¦. I am in no position to judge anyone for what they do...Wonder then, how you got there...
me....Here is what you said in the very first post..." A mother whose son won the scholarship refused the money.....I personally think that's dumb as fuck, on many, many levels "
You were judgmental from the start . How is it that you can say some one is wrong for making a decision based partly on morals and say your not being judgmental... but if i defend there right to make that choice im some how judging your choice That logic doesnt make sense. I wasn™t saying your choice was wrong ¦i was defending there choice. What i did say was that the logic you used to defend dealers was wrong I guess you thought because i disagreed with you defending dealers that some how i thought it was wrong for you to accept the scholarship...No .it just means i dont agree with your defense of dealers. And yes I understand every thing you said wasn™t directed at me specifically. Im making the argument for any one who said they personally wouldn™t except the money.
When i brought up the drug dealers actions and his effect on the community as part of the reason they might publicly refuse the money on moral grounds you and raum turned it into a lengthy debate arguing that drug dealers have no responsibility for the damage they help cause and that selling drugs is some how the same as selling burgers. It became to me much more a debate about you guys down playing the effects of drugs and drug dealing than any thing else.
Uber.......And more importantly, why its cool for you to sell a website you made with bootlegged software, but not cool for you to take money you made from selling joints and give a kid a free ride to college.
me¦Raum...Is there really any doubt the dissection is based on a dealer creating a scholarship with money he made from drugs or Evan just the fact were talking about a dealer.
Me.... All illegal acts should be looked at exactly the same with no consideration for the amount of damage they do ? .Obviously there both wrong but one joint is not going to get you enough money to create a scholarship What the web site later became worth is not the issue ¦it™s the one copy of illegal software that is the issue here. What is the impact of that one copy of software vs. the drug dealing it would take to create a $50,000 dollar scholarship. .If you want to make the argument that he some how sold enough copies of the software to get $50,000 to create a scholarship than that might be a fair analogy. In that case some one could refuse to accept it on moral grounds and i see nothing wrong with that. What ever your world view is or what arguments you want to bring to the table you have no right to say there œdumb as fuck for making that decision.
To sum up my point of view¦If this thread is about accepting a scholarship or refusing a scholarship based on a moral decision than I say the person should not be judged for making either choice.
If this thread is about the defense of drug dealers, or that there not responsible for the part they play relating to drugs in society ¦ if its about saying dealing drugs are OK as long as you do some thing good with the money or¦ that drugs really aren™t that bad than I would disagree.

me.....How is it worse or evan remotely the same ? There both illegal but remember were talking about one person and the damage done by there actions. Unless you can say one person downloading a copy of an apps caused severe damage to the company its not a fair comparison. On the other hand all you need is one person selling drugs and he alone can help screw up many peoples lives. I all ready made that point. Unless you can debate that you shouldnt keep bringing it up

OK...
Me saying something is dumb, isn't me being judgemental...I didn't say it was right or wrong, I said it was stupid...There is a difference...I didn't say, or mean to say that the issue was any kind of moral reflection on the mother what so ever...I cited her on her behavior...That's 50 grand...Even under the shadiest of circumstances, you don't turn that shit down...
My argument, was that if she's going to go there and take the high road, then it is stupid, because she's basing it on a moral decision, of what she think is right or wrong, when really, there are few people that can readily tell the difference...
My argument is, if she feel that way truly, then she should just leave the south period, because ill gotten gains are all over the place, and have so much become a part of our dialy routine, how can we distinguish..?
Truth be told, you don't know if the place you drop of your dry cleaning is run by the mob or not, do you..? You drop your clothes off there every day for 2 years, not a complain in the world, the service is great...You find out the cleaners is run by a Mafia Capo, are you going to stop going to the cleaners..? If you found out Bill Gates stole his code for Windows, would you start using Linux..?
QUOTE("highlife")Scholarships many times are given because of educational achievements not just because some one is poor
Dude if you go to a small, county school, you could graduate w/a 4.0 and not get a scholarship to a junior college...I graduated with a 3.2, and a shitload of state recognized academic achievement awards, honors, all AP classes, a 25 ACT score I got in the 10th grade...The proverbial works, and the best I got was a half scholarship from a Division I-AA school, and my family was too poor to buy me books...Even with student loans, grants, and so forth, I was barely getting by dude...And now I have an education, that if I had stayed in that field, I would barely be making enough to pay back the student loans...
If my Mom had been offered 50K, and turned it down cause she found out the dude that put up the money was anything short of a child molester, I don't know if we'd be friends...
