I'm very tempted. But also a little wary, since I'm still using XP (running mostly music apps), and I've never once had problem.
Has anyone jumped from XP to 7?
If so, have you encountered any issues?
Needless to say I've avoided Vista like the plague.

What's so great about Windows 7 John, is that it comes with "XP Mode" which is bascially the Virtual Machine Manager built into the OS...Basically, you can run a perfect Windows XP enviroment right inside your Windows 7...In fact, you can maximize it, and nobody will ever know that you even have Windows 7...I have put Windows 7 on every machine I've performed service on, and everyone is raving about it...
I thought Vista was OK, but all the kinks that it was have turned into computing bliss by Windows 7...It's worth any upgrade cost to the machine or software to run it, you'll be extremely pleased..!

Well, you are actually running a problem with how insecure Windows XP is. There's nothing stopping any process from running with full local admin rights. That spells severe trouble for any malware that might slip through an AV program.

Three Questions:
1.

So how do I access it?... If it's included on 7 Home Premium that is. I set up the new PC yesterday which comes with Home Premium installed & some of the whys, wherefores & design is stumping my ass.
2. I saved my Application Data from the old desktop but when I went to copy it , I found there was no visible Documents & Settings folder in C Drive like where I got it from the XP machine. Where the f*ck do I paste it to? Can I get a file path please.
3. Is it normal for AF (& other sites to appear only in the center of the widescreen monitor that came with the new 'puter or can it be adjusted to fit the whole screen?

1. It's only available for Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise. It is not available for Windows 7 Home Premium.
2. C:\Users\<username>\AppData
3. That depends on the forum theme you pick. I know the default theme just centers with about 4-inches of gray space on either side on my widescreen LCD.

No problem, Jig. Let me know if you have anymore Windows 7 questions. I have been using it since it came out.
As an alternative to XP Mode I would suggest installing VirtualBox and running a Windows XP VM in it. It has Fullscreen Mode and Seamless Mode that are quite nice.

VirtualBox is free software. I do have the link in "The Necessary Software Thread" but you can search Google for it too.
The only thing you'll need is a valid Windows XP CD and license to install in the VM. You can get one here, I am sure it works.

Yeah I still got my legit copy of XP . I'll give it a shot.
J - The appdata thing didn't work. All I want to do really is copy all my firefox bookmarks, extensions & passwords over. What I did was copy the profiles folder over to 7. Should I just copy the whole Mozilla folder over to 7 & replace the existing one?
