Filled up my dad's ride yesterday (bad idea) and cost me $70!!!!!

Going to be an expensive summer...

I don't mind the government taxing gas. The money is used for us. The Canadian government is working out a gas tax deal with the minucupalities (though I don't think anything has happened with it yet). The municipalities will use the money to improve sidewalks, roads, street signs, traffic lights, increase the number of buses on the street etc.

The money the oil companies get won't be spent on us, so if the oil companies are keeping the price of gas high on purpose, that pisses me off. Gas over here has been hovering around $ 0.80 - $1.10 per litre. I remember when $ 0.75 used to be considered high...

Last I heard the barrel has gone up to $73. This is insane. Cost me $33.85 to fill up 12 gallons of gas. Our government better do something about this. Like drill in Alaska....

Right now it was $1.22/Litre, before we headed over the Belyando Crossing out to Pajingo this morning.

actually, we are drilling in alaska.

what is the issue about gas prices increasing is the trading price of oil, and market strength is not finished yet.

the supply issue is about the fact that the strict reglations put in place by democratic proponents make all the changes to ethanol added gas are all happening at once, and we have not been able to build any new refineries. they literally had to dispose of gas they can no longer legally sell just recently.

and meanwhile, Castro is drilling 45 miles off the coast of florida, and Mexico found record amounts of oil in the gulf.... where we can't drill.

The demand is the thing, isn't it raum? As long as we keep paying, they will keep jacking prices. It sounds like the international demand is rising as the economies in China and elsewhere have driven the demand up internationally. Here is an excerpt from the WSJ:

Unlike the energy crises of the 1970s, which resulted from reduced supplies of Mideast oil, today's crunch is due largely to a swift rise in global oil demand. The surest way out of the problem, most experts agree, would be to curb consumption of vehicle fuel, particularly in the U.S. For years, economists have argued that the most effective way to moderate U.S. demand would be to hit Americans with significantly higher gasoline taxes.
