TV's on its way out

I think my TV is on its way out. I've noticed for the last year or so, the picture jumps. It doesn't happen often, though. It'll happen one night, and then it won't happen again for weeks, sometimes even months. The picture just kind of jumps up and down, and it's hard to focus on what's going on. I believe the brand name is Orion, and it's probably over 6 years old. I think it's a 13 inch.

lol Please. I spend enough time online. lol Ill probably start looking into buying a new TV. Which sucks because that means Ill have to hold off on buying the DVD player.

Anyone know any good brands for TVs? I doubt Orion is any good. lol Im looking for something in the 15 to 20 inch range. I dont need anything too big, just something to watch the game on.

I don't reckon some of those flat-screen tvs are that flash. I don't really know the difference between rear-projection/LCD/plasma screen (hmmmph, how'd they get plasma in there without a gigantic magnet and stiill not have cold fusion? lol), but to me to picture quality looks crap. Not sharp enough. And these are the 'expensive' ones!!

My parents had an Orion video machine for 3 years, and carked it. Their Sharp video machine lasted from 1990 to 2000, went strong all the way and then died, just like that. They swear by Sharp, even their small 13cm(?) (as old as that video machine) is still going strong.

we got a 52" Sony Plasma XBR down in the family room and the picture quality on that thing is off the chain... definitely a lot better cleaner and brighter picture than a rear-projection or an LCD. I know this cuz i got a 30" LCD in my bedroom and it's no where as good as the one downstairs...

But yeah Kramer if you're just looking for a smaller basic tv you could hit up a wal-mart and get a 20" RCA for under $200... well that was like a year ago so i'm sure you could get one for a hell of a lot cheaper now probably.....

Then it must be rear-projection TVs I am seeing. All three are being advertised, but the ones I see in people's homes and on display at shops look like crap- even my father said so when we visited his aunt. She reckoned it was alright- the picture's sharpness was blunter than a crumbled 6B pencil!

I guess it's just the "widescreen" thing that people go for- they think ALL widescreens have better quality, so just get them. They need to look harder- yet these fancy TVs are very expensive in Australia.

I reckon just stick to good ol' CRT until the plasmas come down to a decent price (anything over a grand is too much for a standard telly).

plus, I would imagine, that at 22 years old you are not exactly settled down yet and who the hell wants to move some big ass tv around every 9-18 months?

I never even thought to look at Wal-Mart. I was checking out FutureShop and Best Buy... you know damn well they're going to charge me an arm and a leg. lol
