all i got now is #ALTROCK & #audiorevolution (which im told is just a bunch of people who branched off from ALTROCK)

I myself have never found much use for IRC...I know that there are some people that think its great for file sharing type things, but I found it cumbersome...I used to use that special version of IRC though, it was pretty neat for getting things like music videos and such...If you're going to be using IRC for that, I'd strongly suggest using it...I do believe it was called Invision File Server version, or something like that...

haven't used IRC in quite some time... check out some of the IRC search sites to find what you want and can maybe find good channels that way.... here's one i've used before

IRC is easy to use, the only negative is queue waiting times.
