Just wondering if it's ok to leave my laptop running all the time.
I'm done my semester at university and since I dont have to travel back and forth I just leave my laptop on at home most of the time.
Does this cause any serious damage or is it ok to just leave it running like I would for a desktop.

Absolutley fine..!
Well, dunno what it could do to the battery, but if the laptop is well made, the circuitry should try and over-recharge it over a long period of time..
Also, to get the most of your wall-power plug, open the Power Options control panel, and make sure the current scheme is set to Always On.. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I bought it Sept. 2005 and at the time it was one of the high-end Acer notebooks they had.
I leave all the settings on high to get the best performance when in AC mode and use a lesser setting when on battery. It has a 17" widescreen so gotta conserve on battery by lowering some settings.
Should I leave the battery unplugged since it's usually on AC plugin mode?

If you CAN disconnect the battery, then I'd do it - better to be on the safe side, seeing as batteries can have memories and improper care can decrease their life severly..
That said, I doubt it'd make much difference to the battery, but again, I'd disconnect it if I could..

I have the option of removing it so I will from now on.
I bought the extended warranty package on this thing so realistically it's covered no matter what.
But still better safe than sorry..
Thanks for all the input bro.

cool....when you leave it on do you leave the wifi turned on also? Do you live in a high population density area? If so, make sure firewall and network shares are set appropriately. You would not want to return home to find unscrupulous hacker turned your laptop into a warez server!

Yeah wifi is always on and secured.. thanks though man.
It's hella important to keep your net protected.
In my neighbourhood there are so many open connections I can get on if i just drive around.. seems everybody has a wifi router these days.

It's good to know this, I was worried about that since I'm now on a laptop too...
