Al Qaeda in Iraq vows to 'shake the enemy'

The U.S. needs to execute a couple sweeping operations now. Hit them when they're weak.

How are the media whores going to spin the story if we do bring peace to Iraq? They might say we did it so we can attack Iran.

hmm... how about by saying that the major loss of human lives, the abomination of human rights and the increased worldwide danger for big terrorist attacks could have been avoided?

Alright Brains, I'll bite. You talk of increased danger from terror attacks because of Iraq, what were we doing Sept 10th, 2001 that would warrant a terrorist attack?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Doesn't really matter. The U.S. was going to be attacked. Bush had two options after 9/11: 1. Take the Clinton pussy route and just launch a couple missiles at some dirt hills, or 2. Actually do something. Bush chose the latter.

i am not saying at all 9/11 was justified, but I do understand that people got frustrated with the international politics the States had been following throughout the preceding decennia.

An example of scewed international politics would be the US's unconditional support of all things Israel (which still goes on today), culminating in their veto-ing of dozens of resolutions against the country. Or the "fight" against communism like the Vietnam war - why the hell was and is capitalism superior to communism so that it needed that war?

The Cold War was a two way street. The USSR has its acts of aggression, too. Whether those acts are on the same scale as Vietnam doesn't really matter...

Israel is an extremely tricky situation...

And lets not forget the screw up politics of Iraq... went to war with Iran... invaded Kuwait... used WMD on its own citizens... paid the families of suicide bombers in Israel...

... and - apart from the latter and for Kuwait - had the US support on these and / or turning a blind eye to them. who do you think sold the weapons and the technology to them? Ever seen that photo of Rumsfeld amicably shaking hands with such a despised dictator?!

Fact is: Saddam was good buddies with the States before he invaded Kuwait when he became a liability.
