Day 1 of the draft has hit us with a couple surprises and a couple question marks. Here is the draft for the first round (with a link in that web page for the second round)

I thought Portland did a great job of trading players and draft picks. They are starting over which is a great sign for the ball club.
I'm surprised that JJ Redick dropped to 11th. I thought for sure he would be a top 7 pick.

I bet his DUI had something to do with it.

Um...I said Redick was going to be a shit pick, I can't believe LG had him pegged as a #1...Man that was crazy...He is a shooter, I am surprised that he went that high...And on top of that, the DUI...
Oh, and lets not forget he the hand of God around his throat in big games, coming up least when they need him most...If he can turn himself into a pont guard, I'd be shocked. otherwise his ass is in for some overseas ball...
Is it just me, or is the draft getting weaker and weaker every year..?

The drafts sure are getting weaker. There was almost no good talent this year at all. Of course when you have 3 of the biggest superstars in the NBA drafted in the same year a couple years ago, everything seems weak.
I really don't know if the DUI had something to do with him being drafted 11th. It was an isolated event..he didn't have a history of it. Teams probably wouldn't take that into account as much.
Yea, there was no way he'd be #1 but I thought he deserved higher than he got.

I guess the High School player's were missed this year, it's a shame that HS talent is better than the college talent this year.

Okay, okay, okay. Have no fear...LG, the NBA God is here to drop some light on ya!
First off........let's all be serious. We have no idea if theres any talent in any draft.....wait 3 years then we'll see.
Ginobili was picked 57th for christ's sake....not to mention how many high picked duds of the last few years..... time will tell with these guys.
If I said JJ was going to get picked first......then quote me, but I believe I said he's the best player in college basetkball....not that he was destined to go first overall.....and I'll still stick with that statement.
This draft was all about potenial.....the skill guys weren't very good...most people were picked for what they could be.
I hope Thomas and the other dude turn out good for the Bulls....everyone seems to be saying they had the best draft of them all. Our maining target in free agency is Ben Wallace...and with him...we might make some noise this year...we shall see.
The reason J.J. slipped so far is based on need and the reports of his back problem. Not many people NEED a 6'4.5'' white shooter... At this momment in time....I think most of us would agree he's better than Rudy Gay....but in the future...people see bigger things for gay and for Thomas.... Hell Thomas didn't even average over 15 points a game.
Some big question marks for me....... Why didn't Milsap get taken earlier. I know a lot of people don't know who this guy is....but he led D-1 college basketball in rebounding for 3 straight years.....are you kiddin' me?!....not D-2 with shitty players....we're talking D1 !.... This guy had like 13.6 rebounds a game...and had like 17 points a game and didn't get picked until the 50's when it appeared teams were just picking foriegns players with the coolest names....
And he came from La Tech....last good PF to put up comparable (and yes...worse numbers in comparsion)...you guys might know him......a guy named Karl Malone.
I think the Knicks made a bad pick with their first pick...that guy wasn't even slated to go until the late second round...if at all.
Overall I think a lot of teams picked up the guy they wanted/needed.....and I for one, was happy to know every single player who got picked minus the foriegn players. I'm glad the Highschool players aren't allowed to come out anymore.
and what the fuck with this number 1 overall. How can you be 7 feet tall....play an 85 game season...and never have a double figure rebounding game?! Thats TERRIBLE! I've had 10 rebounds in a game before....but a 7 foot guy in a so-so league in Europe can't....and HE goes number 1 over the players who have proven themselves in our D1 college system? I don't get it!
But yeah.....all this rambling comes down to this point....to say this draft had no talent is ridiculous....no one knows how these guys will do...and I bet theres some superstars in this bunch....I love the way Brandon Roy and Randy Foye play....and you guys all know I'm a big Reddick fan. Hopefully Tryus Thomas is a star like everyone thinks.....but 3 years down the road....we shall see.

Just for the record, with the exception of the occasional mega blunder, the best players in the draft or college for that matter are usually taken early, 1,2,3, not 10,11, 12... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
I forsee this draft as being full of servicemen...Diamond if the rough guys, and from the looks of it, that is how most teams drafted...Teh figure nobody was going to be that mega impact player, and drafted for team suits, rather than talent...I think D. Wade has changed teh way we view drafts, he was a good college player, but took his NBA game to a new level...Rarely is a guy better in the Pros that much than he was in college...I bet more than a couple of GM's had that in mind when they did some of their drafting...
