Sympathy for the Army of God.

Do you know this story, I do, it hits REALLY close to home.
Lebanon declared independence from France in 1948. Syria said, "hmm, that's nice." and occupied them. Lebanon fought HUGE resistance in Lebanon against Syria. Then, along with Egypt and Jordan, Syria attacks Israel, Israel invades Lebanon, to fight Syria. Thousands of refugees from Palestine flee to Lebanon.
In the region of the Chebaa farms, a 9 x 2 mile stretch of land, some Muslim farmers rushed to protect their country. They were one of the most effective resistances there was. Eventually, Syria pulls back, and Israel presses forward, This group of Farmers are far more successful against the Israelis than the Syrians, mainly because the local people support them, and to be honest they know the terrain better. Their given reason for their effectiveness is "Their cause is just." They cite the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the nobility of the revolt of oppressed peasants. They become almost mythical. They are known, for this miraculous success as Hizb'allah: "The Army that is God's."
The UN comes along, to finish the fighting, and draws a thin blue line, irrespective of many people's national sentiments. They take the farmland of these original farmers and to the disbelief of many people, MAKE IT PART OF SYRIA based on Syrian maps. Israel refuses to leave, mainly to prevent being attacked again.
The financial records of the French and Lebanese show these farmes paid taxes to Lebanon, since well before 1920. Damn the thin blue line. Even the Syrians admit this, and concede when given this land, they will proffer it to Lebanon. Israel feels offended by the success of the militia known as Hizb'allah, and feels threatened by the prospect of this falling out of their hands. They occupy first, this area of Chebaa, and then south Lebanon and beyond.
Syria says it has no choice but to stay. In fact, for some time they refuse to accept Lebanon as a seperate country. In 2005, they finally leave.
There is no reason for this occupation of Lebanese farmer's and, and Lebanon was never an enemy of Israel. Nor did they attack Israel before. And thank's to the immgration of many Syrian militias and Palestinians eager for revenge against Israel, they now are flooded with their first Muslim majority, and anti-semitism grows until most Jews are literally kicked out. Due to Syrian control, that is obviously easy. And though Lebanon wants its freedom back, that are terrified of the threat of Israeli invasion, which was bloody, merciless, and completely without regard to Lebanon.
Imagine two titans wrestling in a playground. The voices of children they crush underfeet is as intangible as the wind; that is Lebanon.
So much for the Paris of The Middle East...
Anyways, this Hizb'allah has many members, and one new member is turning his view to the only Muslim entity that has endured Israel. The newly established Muslim Iran. This man was fond of playing God when he was a child. He would make children bow to him and follow him as disciples. He liked to pretend he was a messiah. This man was Nasrallah, the man who made Hizb'allah the terrorist organization it is, and he has forever fed off the anti-semitism of the Middle East, eager to establish a tyranny. His validation was "desperate needs call for desperate action." He created the modern passion play of Shahada Jihad, the suicide bomber. That coup de grace, along with the Iranian tried and true hostage negotiation was the key to a group that was at once, living off the former glory of those dilligent and crafty farmers, and establishing a tyranny.
Make no mistake, the modern Hizb'allah is a tyranny that completely vampirized the original and sincere resistance of the farmers from Chebaa. A man who feeds off the corruption of the city, and the natural instinct for resistance of those who are oppressed sees this as the key to his success. He even begins to try and establish that because Lebanon is the famed lands of Canaan, the Hizb'allah carries forth the right fight the Jews for their "Chosen Land." He is truly a sick man, and creates a regime of sick individuals, all the while playing the dozens and validating his military might because of the israeli occupation of 9 x 2 miles of farmland, on the mountainous ridge of the mountain that is the namesake of Lebanon.
And though Israel, under Ehud Barak, left all of Lebanon but that one corner, they stayed in that corner, which they accept as part of Syria, and Syria accepts is part of Lebanon. It is that occupation that has forced the UN and even Lebanon, to admit the validity of that original resistance, which has become an abomination.
There are TO THIS DAY, there are people in Hizb'allah who believe they can be part of this group, and still denounce open attacks. They believe through involvement in social welfare, education, medical care, and outreach, the can sway this group from the priacy of human life based upon the goals of a sad little man who has yet to stop playing God. The group has REAL influence, and the social side of this often conflicts with those who seek a more militant solution. That REAL influence often draws in those who want to make a difference.
That is a damn shame...
because it seems as though peasant revolt, the very basis of the USA's independence, is an obsolete model. Any attempts are bastardized due to the inherent corruption in current global politics which inevitably is corrupted into the saddest expression of human existence; desperate suicide.
