What would the U.S. do?

Suppose Andres Lopez Obrador were elected president of Mexico and Fidel Castro sent a band of Communist terrorists, funded by Hugo Chavez,
to the Tijuana area. Now suppose this band of terrorists snuck across the border and kidnapped a Border Patrolman, killed several others and, after they snuck
back across the border, began firing rockets into San Diego, striking the Hotel Del Coronado and killing several tourists.
Now further suppose, the leftist Lopez Obrador said he could do nothing about the attacks, and besides, they were the legitimate response of an indigenous people unjustly evicted from their land. Meanwhile, rockets continue to land in the San Diego and force the population to hide underground.

What would the American government do? My only question is whether we would stop with an invasion of Northern Mexico or would we destory Havana and Caracas also?

I would really like to know what people on this board would do if they were in charge.

While others may disagree, and I'm sure they have their reasons, I'm an American...

Destroying havana and Caracas sounds about right...

i'd start negotiation on release of the soldiers, would strike confirmed missile launch sites - if outside of built civilian area's and would yell to my advisors as to why the fuck I was not informed about (1) how that happened exactly, (2) how it could have been avoided, (3) how we can resolve this peacefully and (4) how it came that this was not anticipated.

unfortunalely, there would be gung-ho Bush in the office - creating another area of unrest in this world - and not me.

I would annex Northern Mexico, with promises of citizenship and all its benefits for those that serve to secure it for the U.S. and dare the UN to give me a reason to pull out of every international agreement I am financing, and I would mobilize the Great Fleet in "iceberg" mode.

(Iceberg) is a secret word, not so secret as to not be known,.. and it was the contingency to mobilize the great fleet against possible attacks from Russia, Iran, and China and the UN during the Cold War.

It is designed to extend sovereignty to all International waters, and essentially globalize American security.

I would take Cuba in a day, one bloody day. one word: MICROWAVES.

Brains, your such an armchair quarterback, you know as well as I, they would blend in within the locals. It shouldn't matter where the missile batteries are located, they should be destoryed where ever they're located.

Nothing would get down with Brains at the wheel...

Soldier: There's a militant with a nuke, sir!
Brains: Bomb him.
Soldier: There's an elderly man beside him.
Brain: Cancel that. Let him go.
