Hangin' with Calvin: An inside look at Georgia Tech's spectacular wideout

ATLANTA (AP) -- Johnson, Georgia Tech's spectacular
6-foot-5, 235-pound junior wide receiver, makes
acrobatic, jaw-dropping catches with such regularity
that every time he lines up it's TiVo-worthy. He's
made a mockery out of defenses, amassing 1,725 yards
and 13 touchdowns in two seasons, and teammate
Joe Anoai calls Johnson "the athlete of the century."

Irish Survive

ATLANTA (AP) -- Notre Dame found itself in a defensive
struggle, which didn't happen very often last season.

The Fighting Irish knew how to handle it.

Brady Quinn and hometown favorite Darius Walker
each ran for a touchdown Saturday night as
No. 2 Notre Dame, with its highest preseason ranking
since 1994, rallied for a 14-10 victory over Georgia Tech.

No. 11 FSU stifles No. 12 Miami in second half for win

MIAMI, FL -- Gary Cismesia took his final warmup kick on the sideline, rubbed his head, fastened his helmet strap and jogged onto the field. He looked cool and calm, then did what so many Florida State kickers over the years could not.

He beat Miami.

Cismesia's 33-yard field goal with 8:06 left lifted the 11th-ranked Seminoles to a 13-10 win over the No. 12 Hurricanes on Monday night.

Ohio State vs Texas Game Biggest of the Year

AUSTIN, TX -- Of course, the top story is No. 1 Ohio State traveling to Austin on Saturday to take on the defending champion (and No. 2 team in the country) Texas Longhorns (ABC, 8 p.m. ET). There are off-field issues with Texas, as starting cornerback Tarell Brown was arrested on misdemeanor drug and weapon charges earlier this week. Coach Mack Brown has suspended Brown for the game against the Buckeyes.

Both teams feature playmakers -- Texas has an inexperienced quarterback but a supporting cast that knows what it takes to win a national championship -- so the game will boil down to which team makes the bigger mistakes. The game shows all the signs of being an instant classic. Anytime you can pit the No. 1 team against the No. 2 team, it's a tremendous boost for college football.

Ohio State Beats Texas 24-7

AUSTIN, TX -- Before the Longhorn band played a somber "Eyes of Texas," Ohio State offensive lineman Kirk Barton ran to the sliver of the stadium filled with Buckeyes fans and flashed the Hook 'em Horns sign with both hands aimed down.

The message was clear: Ohio State showed the defending national champions who's No. 1.

In the first regular-season matchup of No. 1 vs. No. 2 in a decade, quarterback Troy Smith riddled Texas for 269 yards passing and two touchdowns, leading the Buckeyes to a 24-7 win Saturday night.
