WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States government is attacking conspiracy theories about the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York as the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11 approaches.
According to a Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll carried out in July, more than one-third of Americans suspect U.S. officials helped in the Sept. 11 attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could later go to war.

Am I the only one who is horrified by that number? How stupid are these people? I fear for the future... I really do. :?

This is exactly what Al-Qaeda wants... a division within the country. Did the government know of possible attacks... yes. Did they take them seriously enough... looking back now, no. Did they ignore them for the simple purpose of later going to war... no.
Prior to Sept. 11th, 2001, Saddam couldn't have been further off out danger radar. Those who believe this war is all about oil are idiots. This war is about a president dead set on his legacy being remembered as one of a President that fought to rid the world of terrorist. Bush is full steam ahead and is not stopping for anyone. Not his advisors and certainly not for the American people.

That is a ton of people who believe in a conspiracy. Like you said Kramer, I fear the future. That is just insane. Why would the government do that? I know they are corrupt but not that corrupt
