tide turns in Iraq's Al-Anbar province.

local tribes in the Anbar province committed a troop strength of 30,000 (3 infantry divisions) indigenous Sunni forces to fight Al Qaeda on the Syrian border. They finally get that the new govt. is for real, and despite the fact the the govt. is dominated by the Shi'a, they will back it, and seek electoral strength, not military resistance against the US and iraqi forces.
The Iraqis who were siding with Al Qaeda are joining in the fight to defeat Al Qaeda!
Where's the media outcry for this great news? These men are not insignificant, they have superior knowledge of the local terrain, are exceptional in ambush tactics, and know several key components to the offensive strategy in thew Al Anbar regions, and well as relevant cross-border information about Syria, including how Al Qaeda is replenishing troop strength.
Iraq is fighting for its future... and it just might be winning, now that in an area where we had less than 15% support, we now have a commitment of almost 80% involvement in indigenous resistance to Al Qaeda's presence in the area.
when I find things out like this, and find I can pass them on, I have to wonder what I don't know.
incidentally, this was reported in the media as "6,500 Iraqis die in bloody conflict",..
not "Tide turns in terrible Al Anbar conflict as most local tribes assist Iraqi and US forces in defeating Al Qaeda sympathizers. Tribes announce further commitment of 30,000 troops to support Iraqi democracy."
