What a frikken joke this is. Me, brains (at gmail.com), told you so 3 years ago and it took 16 of your intelligence agencies to come to the same conclusion 3 year behind?!

I guess my pay is WAY too low.

Since, apparently, the Iraq mini-coalition led Iraq invasion actually fuelled terrorism!!!!!11111oneoneoneone

what a shocker! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Let me ask you something... have you read the report from beginning to end? I doubt it.

Is anyone else annoyed how all the people who are against Bush are taking this report and exploiting it? They're using it as a way to prove that they were right, the Iraq war was a mistake... yet none of them have read the full report!!!

Give me a break...

see, this is stupid,..

QUOTEThe Iraq conflict has become the 'cause celebre' for jihadists, breeding a deep resentment of US involvement in the Muslim world and cultivating supporters for the global jihadist movement

(note: cause celebre basically means "point of controversy based on the question of legality")

but,..

QUOTEPerceived jihadist success there would inspire more fighters to continue the struggle elsewhere," it said, but "should jihadists leaving Iraq perceive themselves and be perceived to have failed, we judge fewer fighters will be inspired to carry on the fight.

yup, clearly that means "oh noes teh war in iraq is fuelling terrorism! eleventy-one!!" /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

That says clearly "More activists are identifying themselves and emerging as "jihadists", and the banner they rally around is the legality of the war in iraq, (which happens to be the liberal views on the war as well, hmm?).

furthermore, it says if we pull out or concede to failure,.. so we need to whoop them solid.

Now, if anyone else has anything to say, at least read the consolidated opinion, which is a general consensus of reconciling views from America's intelligence sources.

actually, no. "cause c†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡‚©l†™ ¢‚¬„¢¢‚¬Å¡

‚¨bre" means nothing of that. it just means: "famous reason". The reason why something is done.

so jihadist fight because of the Iraq conflict, which is breeding a deep resentment of US involvement into the Muslim world.

so... the Iraq war fuelled terrorism, not fought it, hmm?! /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> (something which is clear as crystal btw)

cause celebre
Etymology: French, literally, celebrated case

Definition:

famous case or controversy: a legal case or public controversy that arouses great interest and becomes famous because of the issues or the people involved.

It's a legal term.

it says "that the jihadists are USING the war in Iraq as a point of action and recruitment"

failing that, they would be using another point...

what was the point of Al Qaeda attacking our embassy,.. we weren't in Iraq then. or attacking the Rueben James, or bombings in Bahrain?

Iraq is a proving ground, a gauntlet to be run, not a damn crusade.

I agree, and again...

Our involvement or not, unless someone is implying we are ALWAYS involved, they'd fucking find a reason to fight...That's the history of the region, is it not..?

Saying the war fueled terrorism is like saying the emergence of the modern muscle car has increased speeding tickets...

The headline:

Young men across America are blaming the increasing horsepower in new vehicles for the increase in speeding tickets...

** Logic being, everyone w/a muscle car don't speed, everyone that speeds isn't driving a muscle car, and the solution to the problem ISN'T to tell car manufactures they can't put turbo chargers on whips**

Or did I get it wrong..?

I really don't understand how you can come on here and claim that this article is definitive proof that the invasion of Iraq was a bad idea.

You've admitted you haven't read the report, so you have absolutely no idea what it says. You only know what the media has told you, and lets face it, the media isn't always the most reliable source when it comes to this stuff.

I'll let you in on a little secret, and you can feel free to call me a "smartie" again: this report cannot be summed up in one setence!!!

I also don't understand how you can come on here and act like you've been the only one saying Iraq was a mistake. You come on here and act like you've finally been vindicated. Give me a break.

You need to check the ego at the door, my friend.
