Is it me or does Rip forums look like too much hard work?

I can undertstand needing to make people aware that when they join a forum they are expected to be involved with the forum and not leech the forum dry. I was excited at first to learn that there was a serious forum out there that focused soley on porn. Hell... I love porn!

But then I read all about the hoops you have to leap through just to be even considered to become a member and applying to a board of members that vote you in or out after 100 posts or more... What's that all about? Man I thought forums were meant to be a community of people with a common interest getting together at one site on the net. Not concentration camp.

I join forums as a lesure activity... I'm not in it to be stressed out about posting every waking minute of my spare time or I'm going to get kicked off! I like to log in once or twice a week, take a look around, make a few comments, share something that tickled my fancy, maybe upload or download something of interest, then leave... Is that too much to ask? I shouldn't have to worry if I go on holidays for a week across the country that I haven't posted in a few days because I might get kicked off.

Life is too short to worry about forum memberships.

What's your thoughts? Anyone ever been dissapointed that they seem to be the only ones that post stuff in a particular forum?

Man you seem like a GREAT member! Thanks for joining AF2!

This message board is an ONLINE COMMUNITY. And like the town square you don't have to just sit in one corner! Or parade all day every day all week every week throughout each year!

Some people pop in here every hour. Some people come now and then. Some (like me) hang around alot then disappear for a while due to other commitments, then come back (I still haven't got around to write about them either, but I did post some pics and videos). Some come and go, but then come back down the track.

I often get pissed off when people come here just to leach nude pics & vids from part of this community, or they just post in those subsections. There's so much GREAT STUFF here other than the latest CyberGirl (and hey, I'm one of the major suppliers!).

You've done alot more in one post, than a heap of leachers have said in 400 posts! You've sparked up a discussion! I congratulate you on that!

This community- is of people with many interests. You don't have to necessarily sprinkle your or be a parrot in EVERY SINGLE thread. But it is nice to embrace the whole community and each part of it, at least now and then.

And no matter what, there's nothing wrong with bringing up past discussions- if you have something new to add to a thread. It may be that a thread finished with everyone agreeing- but then you come along with a totally different opinion. You're more than welcome to open the discussion again.

And another thing- Don't let your level of experience determine the authority of what you post. Just because another member may seem to know a huge amount on a subject area- doesn't mean that you cannot challenge it. And also, don't wait for them to give their view and let it dominate- even if you agree, say so. Often people will not discuss a topic further as they feel a little intimidated by the vast amount of knowledge given, they feel like that's enough, or "the Man has spoken, so let it be". No one is more important than anyone else.

Remember that- you gain experience by not just asking questions, but stating your opinions, even if you don't know squat. Because often, saying what little knowledge you may have, will open up the discussion, or at least someone will challenge your idea and bring new information to it, which will add to your knowledge, and your experience.

Have a great week and I hope to see you again here.
Cheers,
Pete.

Thanks for the encoraging words Pete! It's people like you that make this forum so great! And it's good to hear from a fellow Aussie too... Ha Ha!

I'm glad you pointed out that it doesn't matter what level of expertise you have with a computer... both novice (like me) and expert alike can enjoy sharing all sorts of common interest in this forum. That's one of the many things that makes a good forum GREAT! †™‚¢‚¢¢¢¬…¡‚¬‚¢¢¢‚¬Å¡‚¬¦¢

‚¬Å“ EASE OF USE! And I'd like to personally thank the webmasters responsable for this magic AF2!

Que Applause!!!

Yeah... I know this sounds like a big suck-up but credit needs to be given where credit is due and I'm sure hours apon hours of work has been done to keep AF2 up and running.

Well done AF2!

Thanks for your comments M8, they are appreciated...

I ask that if people are only interested in porn they join RiP cause they'll have a more rewarding experience there...But here, porn isn't all we do, and it upsets me when people are browsing one part of the site and NEVER come out of there...They're not contributing, just saying thanks, and commenting on the girls...

While I appreciate the thoughtful remarks, I am here for the benefit of ALL AF members...That means we need guys to talk sport, post funny links, ask or get some good advice on a real life issue...Not just lay up and burn bandwidth for the porn...And then then when there is an issue, because they don't know the site at all, I'm stuck answering repetitive questions and so forth...It's frustrating, but I do deal..!

That said, I am glad that you're here, and that you are honest with us...We all love porn man, or it wouldn't be here...But its definitely at the bottom of the site for a reason...

And you'll never have to worry about sucking up here, shit, I could use a little of that every now and then, these guys ride my ass like I have bucket leather seats on my back..!

Viva la AF2..!

Just an aside but what is a RiP forum?

RiP is the forum in the Welcome post as a site for those to go that come here thinking that this is a porn forum...It's my second home pretty much, I am Supermod there..It's the source of alot of great reposts that I make here...It's probably the largest forum of its kind, maybe hands down...

It's so big, in fact, that we've closed of open memberships, and new members must go through a 'proving ground' in order to join the main site...But the main reason that is because nobody wants to be giving 100%, and some guy happens to be downloading a ton of shit and uploading nothing...It's a porn forum, that's what you're expected to do...

I personally like the system, tho we have a bit to go as to tweak and perfect it...

We are a discussion forum...We expect discussion...So I guess it works both ways...I just wish that people understood that if you're going to be here, then BE here...It's like walking into someone's house only to take a shit...You can't be anywhere and expect people to give a damn about you if you're more or less using the site...

We have great news, great sports talks, top notch tech support team that you have joined nicely I might add Zap, and we're proud of that...Proud of The Stacks and such also, but that's not the entirety of the site...

I agree with a lot of what you've said mykolmykol.

When I joined RiP back in the day it had a more family type feel where the more you participated the better your experience. Pretty much what AF2 is like right now. However somewhere down the line it stopped being about that. It's no longer just a cool board to check in with friends and shoot the shit and just check out some porn or whatever.

I've been an Elite member at the site for quite some time now but I rarely ever feel the urge to go and check in and see what's new. It just doesn't provide me with anything other than porn.. which is something i can find just about anywhere.

I think for me a forum board is just a big waste of time if there's more to it than just porn or games or movies. I need to have some sort of an additional draw to the board or else it loses its appeal.

And that's exactly what I love about AF. More than anything else it's like a fun place to just check in on and have some discussions or check out vids or music or whatever i'm in the mood for. It's a site where I actually give a crap about the members and what's new and exciting with the site and the changes taking place...
