North Korea announces Nuclear Weapons test
North Korea says that it has conducted its first nuclear weapons test and 'brought happiness to its people.' Japan and China earlier issued an unusual joint statement saying that such a test would be 'unacceptable.' As of 11:10PM EST, the USGS says that it has not detected any unusual seismic activity on the Korean peninsula in the last 48 hours.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports a 4.2 magnitude quake; South Korean news is reporting a 3.58 magnitude event; the White House apparently confirms a nuclear test.
QUOTEI think you meant that headline to say "Bush administration secretly tells N. Korea to announce that they have conducted their first nuclear test before the November election".
Try again. If you want to do conspiracy theories, you ought to do them right.
MSNBC, via Daily Kos:
On Sept. 19, 2005, North Korea signed a widely heralded denuclearization agreement with the United States, China, Russia, Japan and South Korea. Pyongyang pledged to "abandon all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs." [...] Four days later, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sweeping financial sanctions against North Korea designed to cut off the country's access to the international banking system, branding it a "criminal state" guilty of counterfeiting, money laundering and trafficking in weapons of mass destruction.
Now, add in this report dated September 20th:
In the past week, Karl Rove has been promising Republican insiders an "October surprise" to help win the November congressional elections.
It's October. "SURPRISE!!!"That interesting comment sourced from here.
Your thoughts on the issue?

Is this guy really saying Karl Rove intiated the North Korean nuclear strike to sway the Congressional vote toward preserving the Republicans???
... hell, if the man were that capable of controlling Lil Kim and the gang, I'd vote for him!
I figured it would have had something to do with them planning to get some people in Iraq back home.
I really hope the guy who made that comment about Kim Jong Il was joking. No one could be that stupid.
The whole world, and the entire UN security council has condemned the test.
but the secret (that is not much of a secret) is the US is still at war with North Korea. Soldiers die in combat or by sniper fire with North Korea all the time. Most are reported as accidents. Caskets get sent home sealed. Tunnels riddle the ground beneath Korea, and dispel the illusion of north and south.
this was made public at least three years ago,

This "test" was not for North Korean defense alone... it was a test, and you better believe someone who is interested in purchasing helped finance it, and they will be betting on the US getting blamed, which only helps to serve their cause.

From back in 2002:
US grants N Korea nuclear funds
The US Government has announced that it will release $95m to North Korea as part of an agreement to replace the Stalinist country's own nuclear programme, which the US suspected was being misused.
Nuclear Funds

they were also obligated to give it, as part of the 6 billion promised by clinton.
that article SHOULD say
"Bush administration decides to give North Korea their protection money promised to them by Clinton, even though the world has had evidence of North Korea's nuclear capabilities since at least 1994."
it's not Clinton's fault he was a nice guy, and its not Bush's fault he's a cowboy in a world where he's supposed to kow-tow. it's Russias fault for giving North Korea the training and resources, and Kim Jong Il's fault for being a douchebag.
We paid him 6 BILLION dollars to not build ANYMORE nukes, and he said "or, ok, Ira not bid anymoh nuk." and then he built nukes.
do you know what the "talks" are essentially: extortion.
It is as valid as me sitting at home and saying "I won't kill my neighbors if you pay my rent, keep the lights and cable on, and get me money so I don't have to work." and then I use that money to buy guns so I can keep threatening my neighbors and asking for more money.
but at the same time we gave then the money because North Korea was experiencing a record drought, millions were starving and thousands were dying. It is a rough time to be a North Korean right now, but then it was sheer hell.
and yeah, we knew he would use the money to buy netflix and make nukes and people woiuld starve, but literally, we had (through Clinton) promised them money, and look at what else was on the global theater... Israel was getting slammed because they were keeping vital pro-rate revenue from palestine. If we cut off those funds from North Korea, we would face HUGE issues when dealing with China, who was dealing with cuba right off our coast for oil rights. and we could outright expect nothing but more validation for the world to espouse that the us was evil and imperialistic.
and so we publicized the payment to North Korea so at least he had to use some of it to feed his people, and furthermore, we picked up part of the price for the rice that came from Japan so he could use the rest for medical care for his malnourished people.
yeah, we're evil for giving a man an opportunity to do good even though we know he will do no good...
it is not easy being a superpower,.. everything we do has HUGE implications. For example, the Canadian softwood money we owe them... it is not just about us not paying Canada... its about what it would do to the price of lumber if we did pay that, and how that would bankrupt places that have no stocks of naturally occurring lumber. so, right now, we are deferring payment, and compensating it on in other ways... and over time.
if we flex too much one way or another, we could destroy a country we aren't even dealing with...
The other big deal is that South Korea is actually an ally, but for some reason, anything goes wrong in North korea and BOOM there goes their economy, and then we have to come in and resucitate it with our tax dollars; and china is the only other person who wants to *help*. by helping North Korea try to get on their feet, we keep south Korea from getting all pally-pal with China. and China would LOVE to get into North Korea...

Clinton's fault again, huh?
I've said it many times before and I will continue bringing it up. Why deliver the toys and then do a whole production about slapping the brat in public? Every damm bad guy got a toy gun for Christmas last year. Why is that?

US has enough toys, what's wrong with sharing with other kids?
As a plus now they cant tell me i dont have proofs they got those kind of toys, they DO have: I personally gave them some!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: besides the sarcasm the situation sucks, and i mean it not only for north korea having them i mean ALL the countries that have them.

Not everyone has them......but many now want them. For some countries it now seems the best way to avoid being attacked.
