I'm curious, what time is the cut off for you guys?

I'm not living on my own, so I figure the cut off to make a phone call is 9 PM. I just got a call from the NDP office. We're having a by-election in my riding because our federal Member of Parliament gave up his seat.

If you ask me, these people shouldn't be calling at 9:15 PM to ask me if I'll be supporting them in the by-election. It makes you wonder how much longer they'll be making calls until they decide to call it a night...

Shit man, I didn't know they could do that period...Is it something that you sign up for or something..?

i've got calls from indian call centres at 10pm askin if im happy with my current mobile phone provider....

ive recently started to get ppl comin door knockin from Telstra phone company asking about my interent at 8pm too.....

seems like there really isnt a cut off nowadays if u can find sum stupid person thats willing to go work those late hrs and annoy ppl

I think the cut off for going door to door is a lot earlier...

Yeah. I've worked with them before. They have a list of all the people who have voted for them in previous elections, and they'll call them up asking if they can count on their support again. If a someone put a sign on their lawn for a previous election, they'll ask that person if they want to put up a sign again.

I'd say 7:30 for the phone......5:30-ish for the door.

With my cell phone....I don't answer the house phone anymore...and my parents never have...always saying "if they need us, they'll leave a message"

10 and 8 for the phone and door respectifully is ridiculous

Calls FROM any sort of business should only occur within business hours. 6pm I say, and even at that time it's bad, as alot of people have dinner around then.

The next time some parliament party or telemarker calls after 6, then just pick up the phone and leave it sitting there..........


My father is a CPA who also does private work at home- his clients just don't understand and annoy the shit out of him as soon as he comes home for dinner, alot of times he barely gets two minutes to eat before some annoying bastard calls, they could at least give him a couple of hours.

I'd say 8 is the latest, but even that might be pushing it. As Ty said, the calls should be during business hours or maybe as late as 7 because of people getting home from work, but any later is stupid

The Do Not Call rules state that telemarketers can call between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm. National Banks, Political Parties, Airlines, Long Distance companies, and non-profit org. can call you, even if you are registered on the do not call registry. If you feel you have been violated, then go to hell! No seriously...it is an $11,000 fine in the US for violation of the Do Not Call laws.

Actually banks have to respect the No Call list. I work for a bank and any outgoing phone calls to current customers or potential customers must be first cleared by checking them against the list.

As for me and my house, we only have cell phones with caller ID. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer it... at ANY time in the day. If someone calls after 9 PM, it better be a family member with an emergency since bedtime for me is normally 9:30.
