Don't have much experience with DivX myself because it is a proprietary format. I have used XviD and x264 in the past. XviD works on most standalone players.

However, back to your question:
It seems you have only DivX 3 installed from the screenshot - it's pretty old, I think 6 is out. Some good info on how to set up DivX can be found here: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/divx6_setup.html

As a matter of fact http://www.divx-digest.com has a lot of good info on it. doom9.org is another good place to look.

Just check that you can actually play your wmv file in virtualdub otherwise if you can't, it won't be able to convert it.

If you want a really simple, free solution to convert anything to pretty much anything, try Super - http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

It's pretty good and easy to use.

Thanks...
No I also have Xvid installed...and thanks to you I've learnd that my g/f's dvd player read all xvid...

Because .avi is just a container with audio/video created with different codec...
The important is that Mp3 is CBR...and to make easy the encoding just setting the quality to Quantization...

About SUPER...well I knew it...but I can't download it from internet...dey have a sooo bad site!

But nevermid...virtualdub is the best!

Just thought I'd pop in and say XviD is actually a fork of the old DivX, while it was still open source..

XviD can be decoded from DivX players, as they share the same algorithm for decoding/decompression. The main differences between the two are that XviD is open source while DivX is proprietary, and they have slightly different algorithms for encoding (based off the same original one though).
