Looking for good marinades or sauces to try out. Rubs would be good too. Since were from all over the country this should be interesting. I dont have any good marinades right now and im interested if you guys think there even worth the trouble. The two sauces i use right now are...

1 Bone sucking sauce,,,which is a great grilling finisher [tomatoe based]
2 Roasted rasspberry chipotle sauce by Fisher and Wieser ..This is lightly sweet with some smoke and a hint of heat. Good on chicken pork or fish. Also works as a catshup substitute on fries.

Damn, an interesting thread..!

I haven't gotten my chef on in quite some time, but I'm definitely up to learn a few tips...

I use this stuff called "Char-Crust" that is available at some higher end grocery stores and delis (Sams Wherehouse in Chicago for anyone in this area). It is a seasoning mix/rub that comes in a few different flavors, my favorite is roasted garlic peppercorn. It really does a nice job of locking in the tenderness off the meat you are grilling. I highly recommend using it on Filet Mignon especiallly. Get a nice bottle of Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon and you will swear you have died and gone to heaven.

heh, for me, Soy sauce goes with almost anything..
It's pretty versatile..

Soy is a bit stout for a marinade ain't it..?

Soy sauce is like a sauce becouse you put it on a few minutes before you cook but like a marinade becouse it penetrates instead of sitting on top. I use it often as well but i use the low sodium kind. Works great on turkey burgers.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, straight away I thought "SOY SAUCE!"


Ha, looks like a few of it love it too, hey! I love it, great stuff.


If you want soy sauce that ain't so salty, try Japanese soy sauce. It has a lower salt content.


Also I like oyster sauce. I even enjoy eating it straight from a spoon, although that can get a bit strong.


A great sauce for steak is Worcestershire sauce, also known as hot sauce.

It also goes well mixed with smokey BBQ sauce, soy sauce, a little honey, chilli (either crush your own chillis or get chilli paste with the seeds, no powdered shit), and oyster sauce, as a sauce for roasted sausages and veggies (celery, capsicum, onion, carrot, potato).
Oven BBQ Sausages! YUM!



Hey, what on earth is ranch dressing made of? Why is it called ranch dressing? What is it based on some liquid that's fed to horses while in their corral?
