What a great, heart wrenching story man...
This is the second time in the last few days I got chocked up in a movie man, wtf..? This one, however starts off early, and what made it even more gut wrenching, is that it is a true story...If there is a reason America is considered a superpower, this film is a great place to start as to find a reason...
In November of 1970, a plane crashed wiped out almost the ENTIRE Marshall football team, staff, and even a few fans...All of about maybe 5 players who stayed behind because of injuries and such were left alive...The school was threatening to close down the program, but a resilient group of supporters convinced them to continue...Its just an all out great story, and Matthew McConaughey does a great job as new coach Jack Lengyel...
As a sports fan, I came to appreciate athletes more...I remember watching that Marshall game where Byron Leftwich was so hurt, he couldn't walk to the huddle, but refused to leave the game...His teammates carried him to the line of scrimmage and he played through that pain and went on to win that game...I also felt a great deal about what it means to be a person, and an American...
Next time out, rent this...
