Wish i had seen this post earlier - I love R¶yksopp

This song is on their album Melody A.M. (British label - Wall of Sound).

The most popular songs from it are ones you may have heard and not even realized it. "Eple", "Poor Leno", "Sparks", and of course, "Remind Me".

The popularity of this album was boosted by several graphically experimental music videos. One of them, an infographic-styled video by French company H5 for "Remind Me", won the 2002 MTV Europe Music Award for best music video.

The song "Eple" was licensed by Apple for use as the welcome music to the company's Mac OS X Panther operating system, playing the first time a user booted a new Mac. "Eple" means "apple" in Norwegian (or so my norse cousins who live in Bergen tell me...) It was also used as the music for the title sequence for BBC World's Click Online (now Click) and as background music during DJ talk on Virgin Radio. A small snippet of the song also is used for the station ID for American public television station KLRU, as well as for their identical production logo featured at the end of their productions such as Austin City Limits. A small portion (chorus) of "Eple" is used in MTV Australia's "Coming Up" portion of their channel format. It usually has a myriad of bubbles and smoke behind the words as the music plays.
R¶yksopp's first single "So Easy" became popular in the UK after it was used in an T-Mobile advert.

Their most recent album The Understanding was released on 12th July 2005, preceded by the single "Only This Moment" on 27th June, 2005. The video "Only This Moment" is closely based on the events of the Paris 1968 riots and elements of propaganda are found throughout the video clip. The album's second single, "49 Percent," was released on 26th September, 2005. But the best song on the album (IMHO) is "what Else Is There". The video is pretty good as well.

Their song titled "Follow My Ruin" was included on the FIFA 06 soundtrack and as you all know by now the original version of the song "Remind Me" is currently featured in on of Geico's popular 'Caveman' ads.

Let me know if you want/need any more of their songs....

I have both their debut album and their succeeding follow-up (the one posted above).

I was conducting a routine search of the forum to see if the song was posted here before, and it seems it has. :D (Was gonna be 'JAMS' tune, but I thought to make more of a discussion here, now)

I don't have the proper words to describe how and to what degree the spectacular nature of Röyksopp endures.

To coin an internet phrase: "They're awesome."

Also, I have both their remix deluxe albums that are some part an accompaniment to the studio albums.
it's an interesting sound to hear Fatboy Slim's take on the song Eple, to say the least.

On youtube, though, it's their Remind Me - someone else's remix that has garnered most of the popularity, in contrast to the more mellow feel of the original version that is sampled in the Geico commercial, and you'll have heard it occasionally if you like listening to SportingNews' David Stein at all.

I consider their sound one of the best in my collection, in terms of fitting into the loose genre of "electronica", but they can stand alone without the monikers, since the word of mouth on them over the years has afforded them an underground mainstream appeal.

If you like the geico commercial, you should check out Erlend Øye. He is the singer on that particular track for Röyksopp.

You might recognize him from his solo stuff or from one of 2 other groups he has been a part of:
Kings of Convenience
The Whitest Boy Alive

I have some of his stuff somewhere.... I think his DJ Kicks release....

I'll see if I can dig it up in the next few days and post it.
