Wolverines nab nation’s No. 1 all-purpose running back

Michigan football received a verbal commitment from Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair High School running back Sam McGuffie on Sunday.
McGuffie chose Michigan over Texas A&M and is rated as Rivals.com's No.1 all-purpose running back.
"The coaches there recruited me (hard), especially coach (Fred) Jackson, the running backs coach," McGuffie told local reporters. "They told me that if I go there that we'll be a team to be reckoned with."
The 6-foot, 188-pound McGuffie is super athletic.
Scout.com did a photo shoot with McGuffie and J.B. Shugarts, a Klein (Texas) High School offensive tackle who committed to Ohio State, that showed McGuffie doing a mid-air somersault over Shugarts' head.
But McGuffie's not all flash. His numbers from last year look like those Mike Hart produced in high school: more than 3,100 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns -- in one season.
