I did not vote. The way I look at it the first two are both true.
You come from your parents in the sense that you started out as a couple of cells in your mother and used the materials in her body to form and grow. You can through her when you grew enough to be discharged from her thru the birth canal (or maybe by a c-sect).

The third choice only I and my bed knows. And neither one of us are telling, isn't that right bed.

however, your parent's cellular contributions contained only the latest set of genetics in a long genetic history.... thus the contributions and accumulated mutations belong to many and your exact make up can be attributed back to multiple origins, mutations, and donors. Your parents are the portal and the vessel, nothing more, nothing less.

You come directly from your parents DNA and genes. Now they come from their parents DNA and genes and so forth until the beginning of time. But I would agree with BZA (5829 used to be BZA right?) that we come both from our parents and through our parents. Since we are byproducts of the genetic makeup of our parents, we are only formed from our mother's egg and our father's sperm. So yes, we are from our parents in that since. Yet, we are born through them to become our own person

I am not now, nor have I ever been BZA. I have never used any other id here than 5829.

Richard Dawkins expresses it this way: "you are a disposable container for your genes"

I've never heard the through version of that expression before, and while I don't necessarily disagree with it, I think from is more accurate. So I voted disagree and was surprised to see that I was the first one who did so. If you think both from and through are correct, then wouldn't disagree be the most accurate option since the complete statement is that it's through and not from?

Sure enough there is re-incarnation, so even if your soul comes from elsewhere, all your genes comes from your parents.
