Saw Legend with Wil Smith the other night...You should wait for video. Not worth the $10.
The movie was ok, but if you saw 28 Days you already saw this movie.
It really stole the whole plot from it.
The acting was good, and seeing around NYC being abandoned is
kinda cool, but there just wasn't enough to keep you interested.
And the stunts were just too over the top. A human develops a virus
and can all of a sudden scale a building?!.!?
I understand it's just a movie,
but if this movie is set in reality, keep it within the laws of physics.
In movies like the Matrix, I can se how the stunts and action sequences go over the top.
They're manipulating reality. Other movies thay're super heroes. Why in this one?

Yikes..! Legend gets the 4 flat face smilies..?!?! Damn, I gotta admit, I thought that Will was on his way, the critics seem to like the film...I have struck out at the movies the last couple of times, and haven't really been gassed to see anything except Beowulf, which I think I've missed now...I'll catch it on HD DVD though...

I kinda remember some product placements, but not as obvious or annoying
as in some other movies.
Don't think this movie is absolute junk. I'm pretty hard on movies. The fact that they
stole the whole plot really bothers me. Especially when the movie they took it from isn't
very old.
I think Wil Smith is a good actor.
I usually don't like most of the movies critics recommend.
Example- The departed I hated (DiCaprio was good, Nicholson was horrible).
A great Irish mob movie is State of Grace

agreed. State Of Grace was an instant gangster classic. btw even 28 Days had blatant product placement in the form of Pepsi.

um,..

I Am Legend is not "stealing a plot." It is the ORIGIN of the plot. Robert Matheson's classic sci-fi story from 1954 is one of the best short-story/novellas in the horror/sci-fi genre. It is one of the ten prime criteria for an academic study of the Horror literary genre.

I am sure the movie deviates from some of the elements of the short story, but you have to watch this movie in perspective. In 1954, this was cutting edge and most of the stuff you have seen you think it was ripping off, it most likely inspired. This book was the second best vampire novella ever written.

I plan to watch this movie, and see the treatment of the original story. I suggest you do the same.

oh i have read the book. which i loved. & i also muchly dig the Vincent Price cinema adaptation, The Last Man On Earth. i enjoyed the first 3/4 of Will's effort then it just got stupid toward the end. i now know why. apparently they went back & reshot a whole new different ending as the were cutting the movie together. if it aint broke don't fix it. dumbass movie execs.my ref to 28 Days stems from the fact the infected were quite similar (if unscary) to the Danny Boyle film.

I understand the orgin was from 1954, but if someone steals (or is inspired) by your
idea and releases a movie with similarities to yours within the past year. It seems
you should change a few things around. Just to not have the audience feel they've
seen this before. Or wait a few years before releasing it. Just so when it comes
out it will seem fresh and new.

Man, the last time that I can remember going to a movie and feeling something 'fresh and new' was probably when I went to see 'The Ring'...I also thought that the first 'Saw' movie was well done...And even though I've seen some good movies since then, and some really well done movies, I can't say I have that feeling often when I watch a movie...I remember trying to sit down and watch 28 Days later, and having such a hard time with the movie I gave up on it...So, if Legend is on some of the same shit, I'll definitely wait for the DVD...I don't get zombies in movies generally, so there has to be other elements to keep me interested...
