Hey I got a PSP Slim, with the Daxter Pack. I much prefer the ice-silver color and the Daxter and family guy disks were nice add ons. But to be honest, the 1 gig memory stick and the psp cost more than the price. anyways -
What the hell do I do with this thing? I want skype, and homebrew and stuff. I want to play some old games on it and maybe buy a few. I don't see umd's working into my budget but can I put my own videos on the memory?
Where do I start?

Bad news Bud...
The new PSP slims run a version of the Sony software that currently don't allow for downgrading...I'll keep my eyes open, as I too am looking to run some new apps and things, but for now we're stuck...
However..! You can buy games from the Sony store and download them to your memory card for cheap...

I managed to fuck up the power button on my PSP, and will look to get one of those slims with the video out ASAP...But when I got my card, it was $100 for a 4GB version...

When I did PSP homebrew, I went to
http://www.psp-spot.com
I sold my PSP because I don't really like to carry too many things on me.

Also raum, be wary of bricking your PSP...To me, the reward wasn't greater than the risk, cause if something fucks up with putting on one of those homebrews, you just lost a PSP...The last time I checked, there were some pretty arcane methods to downgrading...I'd definitely think about it...
But, there are some tools in the AF workshop to help you manage your files, and converting movies is pretty easy...I'm not sure how much you can fit on that 1 GB card, but I've taken whole rips through the software and watched them with no problem...

I am frustrated to no end with Sony. If they let me put a doc reader on this, along with some games on a mem stick, I would hardly need anything in my carry-on gear.
As for the games you can download, most are meh. and a few are bleh.
