[Free File Hosting] My new choice for free file hosting and

... Mediafire.

I uploaded to Divshare in the past, but decided to switch when I learned that Mediafire has unlimited upload space! The site also provides unlimited downloads - essentially unlimited bandwith. Additionally, there are no wait times, unlike Rapidshare, for downloading files over 100 MB. Mediafire also supports multiple downloads, unlike Rapidshare. And most importantly, why Mediafire in my opinion kicks the shit out of Rapidshare is the fact that uploaded files remain online forever! (I guess I've made it clear I really don't like Rapidshare, huh?)

So let's summarize:

Unlimited upload space
Multiple uploads
No wait times
Multiple downloads
Files stay online forever

The only catch to Mediafire is this: The upload size for a single file is limited to 100 MB. But with unlimited disk space, I don't see this as a big negative.

Have any opinions on a file-sharing site or considering making a switch? I'm curious to hear thoughts from my fellow AF'ers. :)

I was considering rapidshare a try, given the popularity on this site. However, the opinion of God's Gift to Human, the Uberman, has given me a negative view.

Any other opinions out there?

Been using Divshare, but will have to give Mediafire a try. Thanks.
Can't stand rapidshare (an oxymoron of a name?) - either of them. Don't upload anything to them anymore and without a premium account it takes forever to download from them.

Mediafire is a great service...I gave it a great review on my blog @ teh1337.us ...

But the fact that it is free absolutely scares the shit out of me, and as much as I want to trust it, I know that if the service ever has to start compensating, things can get risky...

By far, RS is the worst service available, and I wish I didn't have so many files on it...I use GigaSize, and though some have issues, the Customer support has always been good and my files have remained safe for the most part...I can add files to direct links with no problem, as well as give direct links to users from my premium account...Plus, if you are are free user, you can get premium account status with file shares, recommendations, etc...

If I had to rank them, I'd probably go Mediafire > GigaSize > DivShare > Insert any number of sites here > RapidShare

the only advantage of rapidshare is that almost any shit u want is there. they have every imaginable file hosted (most of the time with multiple redundancy). so, people upload their shit there to get points for premium accounts to easily download those said files. ...and the cycle continues.

anyway, mediafire works great for me ! :)

p.s. megaupload sucks ! :p

maybe, it's just me but megaupload ALWAYS says that 'there are no download slots available for your country' (or something like that).

i used to be able to get around it by tweaking some browser settings but i guess all good things don't last forever. :(
