This HAS to be the first year in my adult life that I've been this interested in politics ever...I watched the Dems do their thing this past week, and I must say, I'm impressed....The GOP is doing their thing this week, and it started with the somewhat puzzling pick of the Republican nominee VP...

Anybody else watching or following this stuff..?

Didn't McCain just shoot himself in the foot with the selection of Sarah Palin as his VP nominee? Wasn't his whole campaign about Obama's lack of experience? Didn't he spend months getting the message out that Obama is just not ready to lead? How can he now ask the American people to accept Palin, a former mayor and a Governor who's been in office for less than two years, as a possible Commander in Chief should anything happen to McCain (a strong possibility given his age and past health)? What gives her more experience to deal with the Ayatollahs and Kim Jong Ils of the world than Barack Obama? Seems hypocritical to put so much emphasis on the importance of experience and then select an equally inexperienced person to be second in command.

I completely agree with you. With McCain being 72 and having fought 4 rounds of cancer, you would think he would pick someone who was young, healthy, and experienced to be VP just in case something happened. Palin is young and healthy but no where near experienced. I really think McCain just lost the election with that pick. It's Dan Quayle all over again....

I can't believe how smug McCain was looking when they announced the pick...I'm sure Palin is awesome, but you guys are right...Your whole thing has been to slam Barak for his experience, and then you pick someone who also doesn't have that much experience and on top of that has an arm baby..? Wow...How much will she care about being VP if that baby gets sick...And if that baby is sick, how does it look if she's not there..? Very, very questionable...I haven't watched much of the republican convention, I wonder what the dems are saying about it...I did see the new ads of McCain and Dubya hugging...I was lol...

Seems like much of the media has been asking the same questions as us, not sure if they've gotten a proper response...I think McCain just pushed a bunch of his supporters away...Maybe not to vote for Barak, but probably not to vote period...Wonder what Buff thinks... :D

McCain is either crazy like a fox or just plum crazy. Is the strategy to garner some of the angry Hillary voters? Assuming they will vote for a Republican who is the opposite of Hillary Clinton on key issues like abortion. Are these women so desperate for the first female to hold such a high office that any female will do? What is McCain's gambit in giving up the experience issue? Was Biden's nomination, with his foreign policy experience, enough to alleviate voter's uncertainty about Obama? Strange days ahead... It's certainly going to get interesting before November.

I mean, from a personal standpoint, Palin is a no go...She has a young baby, and on top of that, a special needs baby...As a father who stayed home to raise a son myself, I KNOW the challenges childcare brings...That's why the shit it so expensive..! It some places, its nothing to be paying $200 p/week or more for childcare... With McCain being 72 years old, spry old man he may be, he would definitely have to consider himself blessed to see 76...And with all he's been through...Goodness...

I saw one woman on TV claiming the Dems were 'sexist' and that she was going to gote McCain now...She sounded 100% stupid...Nothing she said made any sense, and it only seemed to make the case that much worse for John...

And, the teen pregnancy thing...Happens all the time, so what right..? Well, did you hear that that baby daddy was all over his myspace page saying how proud he was to be a redneck..? P.R. nightmare on the republican side...

The more I learn about Palin the more I think this is McCain's attempt to appeal to the social conservatives. Particularly the Christian right, since McCain has been forced to back away from lunatics like John "Hitler was sent by God" Hagee.

Palin is pro-life.
Opposes sex education in favor of abstinence-only programs.
Opposes stem cell research.
Supports the teaching of creationism and intelligent design.
Supports the death penalty.

She passes the litmus test.
