Large crocodile stalks man and dog on city beach

A LARGE crocodile stalked a man and his dog along a popular beach, then lurked around Townsville's busy Strand area before eluding rangers.
Beaches were closed while Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers shadowed the almost-2m saltwater reptile in a boat.

Somehow it gave them the slip in Ross Creek.

The alarm was raised by resident Lee Cooper who was walking his red cattle dog Bella shortly before 10am.

"As I was coming down the beach I saw what looked like a log on the edge of the beach on the breakers and then I noticed it had a tail on it," he said.

"It was about 10 metres out in the water and it was following us along the beach, stalking us, just popping up every 10-20 metres.

Puh-leeze! There are always half a dozen shark attacks or so every summer here. It's just been a slow news month. Most of the shark victims were twits who surfed or swam past the nets. Eith that or the nets need an overhaul. As for the croc, Only in Queensland. Cool pic btw.

I'm glad our alligators tend to leave people alone. They only bother dogs and small children...

More like twit surfers going out at dawn and dusk + cleaner beaches and harbour, and more people than ever using them.....some of the recent attacks have been inside the nets by the way....and i will put $10 on shark attacks being above average by the end of the year....ha

But don't ruin my fun, painting Oz as a place full of maneaters and deadly creepy crawleys is my patrioctic duty!
