If a Room Were Empty Except for 1 Coffee Table...

I am a clutz... a walking accident just waiting to happen... but knowing this does not always take the pain away. LOOOOL

I have often told people that if a room were empty except for one coffee table, I would find a way to crack my shin on it... and over the weekend I had one of those moments.

It seems I've been on a cycle of "home improvement projects" and the latest has been a kitchen upgrade. So over the weekend I pulled out all of the laminate countertops, cut new tops out of wood, layered cement backer over that, and layed down granite tiles.

In the middle of all of this, I was screwing down a guide fence for my saw to make a long straight cut when....
1) the screw became stubborn so
2) I put my full weight behind the drill
3) causing the rip fence to move so
4) I braced it with my free hand at which point
5) the screw stopped and
6) the cordless drill jumped off the screw and
7) The screw driver bit landed firmly... and forcefully.... in the middle of my thumbnail....

Now, i don't know if you have ever punched a hole through the middle of your thumbnail with a spinning screw driver bit in a power drill driven by the force of your own weight... but take it from me.... it hurts.
I think I may have actually broken my thumb....

...but the counters look nice....

Dayum st4....

I'm not really that clumsy...For a fat guy, I have pretty good balance...I can also see pretty well at night, which helps me avoid those intense shin bangers...Shit, I hardly even drop things (knock on e-wood) now that I think about it...I have cousins that are clumsy, and they have clumsy kids...I got lucky, neither my mom or dad are clumsy...

In early June though, I was laying down getting some sleep when a charlie horse jerked me out of the bed...I was in a shitload of pain and jumped up immediately...Which, of course, was a wrong move, because as soon as I got up to try and 'walk it off' I caught a cramp in the other leg...I crashed like the Hindenburg into my HDTV stand...I had a huge bruise on my side for about a week...I couldn't even think about that though, those damn charlie horses were yanking tears out of my eyes...

I don't know if that's considered clumsy, but I did fall down, lol...

I'm not normally clumsy, but this last Friday, my daughter, her college roommate and I went to see a movie. When we came out it was pouring buckets, so I gallantly offered to run to the car and pick the girls up at the entrance. There was a car pulling out as I started running through the rain, so I figured I'd run right behind it. Bad move as it stopped suddenly. It was one of these little sports cars with the raised airfoil on the back. I hit that sucker full bore with my left shoulder. It hurt like hell at the time, but I thought it was just bruised. After we got home, I took my shirt off and my shoulder looked like I was on the losing side of a knife fight. Huge bruise, about a 4 inch scrape that looks worse than it is. Much better now, but I do seem to keep bumping it into things.

Can't think of any good clumsy moments recently, but I had a good one about 15 years ago...

I was in college and was late for class, so I was running up the steps to the building where the class was... Naturally, I tripped and fell. But since it was winter and very cold, my hands were inside my jacket pockets, and I couldn't pull them out in time to stop my fall. So basically I faceplanted onto the pavement at the top of the stairs in the midst of some 50 or so people.
