Sin

Due to popular demand...a thread on sin!!!

I believe that there is sin. I believe that God gave us rules to live by and that we should live by them. THere are certain things that we shouldn't do and if we do those, then it's sin. The Bible also says that if we don't do what we know is right, then that's sin also.

I don't believe that sin can keep you from God though. Through grace, we can still be with Him and we won't be condemned.

Sin is man made...

There's no way that you can garner from the bible or any other religious texts a good grasp on what sin is...I operate on a set of principles that keep me free from BS, which is enough for me...

Although it's almost impossible to do fully, I don't like to think on terms of right or wrong, good or evil, etc...I have a little program hardwired into my brain called:

NECESSITY

Is it, or is it not...Leads for a more absolute answer, and questions the most intense part of yourself...Your innermost, purest part, and allows for you to do what's NECESSARY...

Huh....that's interesting AYHJA. Never heard it put that way before.

I believe that sin can be different for every person, but I believe that there is sin and it isn't man made

Well, I believe that God told us what sin was. The 10 Commandments tell us. Don't murder, don't steal, don't commit adultry....you know them all. Those are rules from God and I believe that's what we should live by. Call me old-fashion but I still believe that...

I feel there is 2 types of sin..

1) Doing what you know is wrong. Can be forgiven though, once your mindset is changed..

2) Ignorance. This is why Jeshua had to die on the cross for us. We will never be able to know true right and wrong as they are as the absolute standard that God set. If we could know we could judge others, like God. This is what keeps us from being as the Lord God is, and the only way to be forgiven is to accept Christ's gift of Love..

Jus a theory for sure, but....

Are you SURE that those are the 10 Commandments..?

But, beyond that...Lets just say that they are...I can think of at LEAST a single instance where God allowed for the commandments to be broken in one way or another...How do you explain that...?

I'm sure those are the 10 Commandments. I also believe that God looks at your heart and your motive behind what you're doing. For instance, if you lie to protect someone who was being wrongfully accused or whatever, I believe that God won't hold that against you.

That's how I look at it. What deeje said is good and I'll have to do some thinking about that...

Please keep in mind, mine is strictly my own thinking, not based on any credible source (besides myself of course *brushes off shoulder*)
