Imagine The Alien Invasion

I'm sure it's a topic that we've all thought about...

But what do you imagine an alien invasion would be like..? Well, not really ''invasion'', but more or less, we find out that we are not alone in the universe...

Do you think that it would be hostile..? Peaceful..?

For me, I have to start with the idea that any biological or conscious entity traveling through space would have to be far more advanced than us is pretty much every way...Which makes me wonder why they would even come here in the first place...I would be intrigued to find out, however, what they might teach...When I watched movies like Stargate, they felt so real...Humans are more powerful than we know, but reaching the peak of that power is either long to come, or long gone...

What would you do or how would you imagine the day we find out that we're not alone in the universe..?

Well when I found out we weren't alone I was nearly shitless. I was like, "you dudes really are weird lookin". I don't remember much except for the levitating above my bed and being surrounded by about ten of em. The fear was excrutiating though.

I really wouldn't mind the visits if they would just knock on the door DURING THE DAY and ask me if I wouldn't mind doing some tests nicely but the pop-ins in the middle of the night have got to stop ya know?

Or maybe it was all just some bad doritos. But they are already here I have no doubts.

damn - you had it bad... my abducters were very gentle with the probe.....
..and it was damn nice of 'em to leave a $20 on the nightstand...

OK seriously - we are not alone. I know it. and when we discover it we will either find a very advanced race (evolved beyond pettiness and therefore a benevolent species)...
...or we will BE the advanced species.... and kick start some other world's cultural evolution just as ours was many many many years ago....

I think it would be frigging cool to see them just land on the White House lawn and announce themselves. Of course the SS would go nuts and start blasting them and start interstellar war but I will be a good servant to our intergalactic warlord neighbors.

Gray...it's the new Black. ;)

I agree with st4 on this. The only way we are ever going to interact with any species from another world is by either us being super duper advanced or them being super advanced.

Coming back to the question I think us finding or being found will be a total coincidence. Which may or may not have already happened. It wont be be something that would be that they knew we existed and hence came here but ended up here and realised we existed.

Whether they come to invade our land would depend entirely on the fact wthether they need something from us. They could be ruthlessly barbaric and just want to take over. I believe that if it was me learning about a new world and did not need anything I would not go onto that planet no matter how advanced our race was. Its simple, just like a butterfly trying to fight its way out of its cocoon, if you help it in getting out of it then you only gurantee its early demise and for that reason I wouldnt allow our race to influence their evolution.

I had to look up what prime directive meant. Wiki came to the rescue. Thinking about it, yes it is prime directive. As they say give a man a fish and he will feed himself for a day, teach him how to fish and he will feed himself and his family for all his life. Similarly letting the beings of a planet discover for themselves the new technologies and figure things out for themselves allows them to know more and learn more and not think they will be handed everything on a silver platter. By just giving them new things you do nothing for them hence I believe leaving them to discover everything allows for a lot more progress

I know its a somewhat ridiculous thought, but I know that our signals from TV, radio, etc, are still travelling in space, and have been doing so for quite some time...An intelligent or advanced species, but different, could intercept those signals and if that's all they know about us, shit...We'd be fucked from the gate...I'd hope though, that they'd try to send their own signals...Maybe meeting that way would be best, because if I'm see a fucking spaceship, I'm preparing for the worst...

are you kidding me?

This long after the greatness, and it's like just now Uber got the point of Star Trek Original Motion Picture.

Anyways, thinking in outer-space is no longer feasible. Not really, we must really reframe our thoughts to think para-dimensional. And no way are we alone on a quantum level. Frankly, if there are other conditions for sentient material organic communicative life, we will not find them by conventional means, or restricting our search through third dimensional possibilities. Read the Book of Enoch.
