I don't know what's more ridiculous... I can't even say what I'm talking about.
He has the potential, and I guess he's delivering? Man, he's got to go to the Pro-Bowl after this, right?.
I'm mad at him, and the Indy defense for even allowing such an astronomical performance. He's not that special.
Each catch he had went for 10 or 11 yards, but when you add them up. Incredible. He has been one of the most-heavily targeted WR in the league for nearing 3 years now, so yeah. It seems his woe of having the 'dropsies' have vanished.

It was a career day for Broncos WR Brandon Marshall, who broke Terrell Owens' single game receptions record -- fitting for the man often called Baby T.O. Marshall finished with 21 catches (one better than Owens' previous mark) for 200 yards and two touchdowns. In the process, Marshall also became the first player since 1960 to record eight 10-plus catch games in his first four seasons

Watching those highlights should worry you if you are a colts fans. Cause the broncos aren't as good as the colts. Marshall was just beasting that game and you have to give the man credit. If the Colts had any kinda of defense they should have been doubling him every pass play. It doesn't seem like Royal did anything at all which could have helped the broncos passing game.
I will say this. Anyone watching that game live was watching history.

Well, he did it against an undefeated team. Terrell Owens had his 20 catches against a team that was 4-11 after that game on Dec 17, 2000. So it's more of a feat for Brandon Marshall than it was for TO.

No, really it's not. Nobody is going to state that the Colts are undefeated because the defense is shutting other teams down or anything. The Indy defense, especially the secondary at this point, is raw. They are starting two rookie corners with Lacey and Powers, and they also rotate in a rookie safety to help relieve starters. Not only are they mismatched in experience, but they only range within 5'8'' and 5'11'', hardly a match against a WR who is 6'4'', which is what Brandon Marshall is (though with his ridiculous leap and extended arms, he plays as though is bigger).
It's more of an indictment on how the other Broncos' receivers were playing in the game, and then nearing the 4th qtr, Coach McDaniels realized that the record was coming into perspective, and decided he'd like his player to take a shot at it. It should have never gotten to that point for either team, but what's done is done.

Did you see the 49ers/Bears game on Dec 17, 2000? I did. I'm a Niner fan.
Walt Harris, the Bears best CB at the time, was out. R.W. McQuarters was so horrible that the 49ers cast him out the year before. Mike Brown was a starting rookie safety and although good at run defense he was horrible in coverage with a whopping 1 PD the entire year. Tony Parrish was the lone bright spot in the Bears' secondary that game and I can't really bad mouth him as he had some amazing years as a 49er. I can't even name anyone else in their secondary that year because they were that bad.
So TO also managed to beat up on an extremely weak secondary. The Bears didn't even have a dangerous pass rush back then like the Colts do now. Let's not forget Jeff Garcia was the QB for TO and the kid that even the Bears didn't want helped Marshall set this record. I think that is quite a feat.

21 catches in a single game is an incredible feat. I don't think its unbreakable or anything, but quite an accomplishment nonetheless.

The pro game is all of a sudden emulating the college game...Both the spread and the option are headed that way...Which will firstly mean that pro football will probably be more exciting, but there are a ton of records that will be shitted on in the process...

Depends on your definition of "exciting".
Personally, I like "knock-down, drag out" defensive battles that can turn the tide of games. Scoring is nice, yeah, but to have that one hit or one spectacular interception that totally shifts the balance of the game, and sets an entirely new tone, I love that.
With the spread, and higher-scoring games, well, comes with what we've seen from the Vikings over the last half of the season. They were still scoring nearly as many points as they were in the first half, but their defense was virtually nonexistent: no pressure, no interceptions, and a whole lot of broken tackles.
Also, a good example of what a "pro game would look like between two college-like teams" would most certainly have been the match between the Detriot Lions and the Cleveand Browns. That was one intense game, but not because the offenses were so potent, but more as a result of the defenses being so abysmal. I'd hate to see the NFL degrade into that sort of spectacle, even if does involve more points.
Points are more suited for the college game; Plays are what define the NFL, through and through.
