Looking for a GPS for the car.
Confused by what is out there.

Looking for any suggestions.

From what I see here is a list of things that I am looking for and don't care about.

looking for:
good quality
speak street names
speak which lane to get into
large screen
good audio quality and volume, easy to understand
ability to exclude roads
automatic and manual reroutes
easy to use/program
ability to calculate a route from where you are without having to enter a starting point.
work off car battery - not just battery in unit.
updating of maps at least once when I buy it (free). future updates?
accurate maps
good sensitivity to satellites and locking in signal.

don't care about:
mp3 player
video player
bluetooth
points of interest
cameras
microphones

Man, this is a good thread...I'm definitely a ''I know where the fuck I'm going!" kinda of guy, but I was out of town last week or so, and I've never been more lost in my life..! I've always traveled with an Atlas, but I had to leave in a hurry and didn't get one...I certainly felt a need for a fucking GPS...The X has one, and it did the job, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the top of the line...Did a decent job that I can remember though...I think it was a TomTom or something like that...

Yeah, anybody with GPS knowledge, please shed some light...I'd also like to make a mention for size...Something that can fit in a glove box seems like a good idea as well...
