Last Friday Mark Hurd resigned his post as CEO of computer maker HP over "inappropriate conduct" with a contractor working for the company. Monday it was revealed that the contractor was Jodie Fisher, who starred in such soft porn movies as "Sheer Passion," "Body of Influence," and "Intimate Obsession."
According to a letter to HP employees, the company's board of directors said that Hurd "failed to disclose a close personal relationship he had with the contractor that constituted a conflict of interest, failed to maintain accurate expense reports, and misused company assets."
Fisher, 50, who began Hurd's downfall with a claim of sexual harassment, denied that she had had an affair or intimate sexual relationship with Hurd. "I was surprised and saddened that Mark Hurd lost his job over this," she said in a statement released by her attorney. "That was never my intention."
"At HP, she continued, "I was under contract to work at high-level customer and executive summit events, worked very hard and enjoyed working for HP."
Fisher worked with HP's marketing division from 2007 to 2009. Reportedly, she was paid $5000 a pop to greet people and make introductions at HP marketing events. Recently she was one of the stars on the NBC reality series "Age of Love." It involves a bunch of twenty- and fortysomething women vying for the affections of tennis hunk Mark Philippoussis.
Hurd is the second HP CEO to step down amid a scandal in the last five years. Carly Fiorina, currently running in California for the U.S. Senate, departed in February 2005 after it was discovered she authorized spying on the company's directors in a attempt to plug information leaks from the boardroom.
