MS took out speech recognition in Office 2007 (and 2010). Using Office 2007 and XP does anyone know of anything that is free that can be used to add speech recognition to Word?
Need to run under 'user' permissions. Prefer not to use 'run as' but will if necessary.

Not real sure about what you mean either, but dictation to my PC via my laptop mic seems to work well...I don't use it at all, but I'm guessing you're not using Windows..?

It's not for me, and they don't want to use any 'free' programs (it's for a business). Word 2003 had speech recognition (speech to text). Word 2007 (and 2010) does not. From what I understand VISTA had it built in, don't know about Windows 7. However they are using XP, which does not have it built in. So now that can't dictate to Word. So they are looking for a free replacement.
In Windows when you define a login you assign it permissions (or rights) from one or more preset groups. The 'user' group allows you to execute programs and access most files but does not allow you to install programs, write to certain files, change some registry entries, and such.
So I am looking for a free program that will let you dictate to Word 2007 and run under Windows 'user' permission group.

sorry dude, didnt understand.
dragon is pretty cheap. but for it to work well you need to train it & i'm not sure you can do that with user permission.
