What are your thoughts on this cd.
To me its her best cd to date. Easily a five mic album.

I'd say it ties with The Diary at 4 n a half mics. I still think she has a Magnum Opus to deliver.

What would you want from that magnum opus?
The only thing I would like to see her do is try something with a piano as far creatively speaking. Maybe a duet with vannessa carlton on the piano.

Is this on the site..? I can't say I've heard any of it, I'm an Alicia fan, but can't say I'm really all that into her music...I just dig that she's talented and smart...

Dude seriously?
Its easily one of the best albums out in the last three years. I'm surprised you haven't heard it.

An album that's totally cohesive with no filler & where she's finally found
her sound. At this point, Ms Keys has been dabbling in all sorts of different styles, but has yet to sound 100% comfortable in her own skin using whatever particular style it might be. She's still young. Give her a few more years.
Maybe a duet with vannessa carlton on the piano.
I'd be game for that. Carlton took herself up a few notches with her bold reworking of the Rolling Stones' Paint It Black.
Btw the reason Element is not a 5/5 is cos you gotta deduct points for that crappy duet with superhooker & one-trick-pony Beyonce. That track sounded like it was phoned in from one of her lameass joints. It should have been the guest star trying to fit in on Keys' cd. Not Alicia mimicking the hooker sound. That's pisseasy. Ask Rihanna & dozens of other post-millenial "artists" who use the Knowles formula.

I personally think Beyonce is a great singer. So I don't share your beef. I think that beyonce has a more powerful voice than Alicia which is evident on the track.

Yes, but she does nothing with that voice. Still making tracks using the Destiny's Child formula from the mid-90's: Come up with a generally nonsensical hook & repeat it to death for the whole track. Verses mean nothing in her world. Nor does switching up the song structure. Knowles makes jingles. Not songs.

As the writer for DC she was successful with that formula. Can't fault someone for going with something that made them alot of money.

No, I can't. Not takin' that away from her. Nor will I laud her for milking it either. Keys' work will stand the test of time cos it's diverse. B's work no doubt will continue to give her coin aplenty (especially when it starts being used for ads), but I doubt the material will be revered 50 years from now. It's as disposable as pampers.
