IE9 versus Chrome: which one blocks malware better?

RE: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/ie9-vers ... ag=nl.e539

Pretty good example of extra steps that IE9 takes to protect you compared to Chrome. I recently switched to it because Opera 11.10 really pissed me off with how Opera Inc warped the Speed Dial. I don't mind subtle changes to improve things but mass changes that are forced upon you are something I just don't like.

So I tried IE9 and actually like it quite a bit. The one benefit I really notice is that (just like Chrome) each tab is it's own process. Hated how Opera would sometimes crash and close out everything.

Who knows, I might switch back to Opera but I wanted a change anyway.

Not so keen on Opera either, still using it but thinking of swapping back to IE.

No unfortunately. They are saying that IE10 won't even run on Windows Vista (as IE9 won't install on Windows XP or below either).

Here's another article that sort of piggybacks off of the one above: http://www.securitynewsdaily.com/is-int ... wser-0730/

IE9 might be the best now, but which one is the best will probably change again this year.

By not allowing their latest version of their browser to run on anything but the latest version of their OS Microsoft may have found another way to force people to buy their latest OS. And since their latest OS requires more and more hardware, they may have to buy a whole new PC, with the latest version of their OS installed - of course.

More and more hardware? Not sure if you have ran Windows 7 before? It runs perfectly on a low end netbook without a problem.

7 is a bit slow on a netbook with minimal ram & a crap CPU. That's why I changed my MSI's OS to Jollicloud.

Comparing Windows 7 to an OS that is basically a stripped down version of Ubuntu that runs an HTML5 interface isn't exactly fair. Also, JoliCloud is built to be connected to the internet 24/7 for full functionality. That's a severe limitation compared to any netbook with Windows 7.

Don't get me wrong, I do like JoliCloud but it's like comparing apples to oranges.
