Tale of the Tape!

Watching the finals right now inspired this topic, so I'll start it off with two of the primier shooting power fowards.

But First, the thread guidelines, don't pose a matchup of your own until you've answered or voiced your opinion on the previous one. I don't want 4 different matchups going on at once. Also every discussion will match athletes in their prime.

Robert Horry vs Rasheed Wallace - In their primes!

Who do you want for the first 3 quarters?
Who do you want for the 4th quarter?
Who would you pick if you were putting together a fantasy team?

and why

Hmmm...

On skills..? It's be hard to deny Sheed his...But sticking with the topic....

I'm gonna say "Big Shot" Roberty Horry...The man has been to the playoffs every year of his career...That's no small feat man, and on top of that, the dude be winning RINGSSSSSS...He's not a dominant player like Sheed can be, but he's so damn consistnet...Plus, Sheed had all them attitude issues in his prime...Rob just did whatever...You never heard his name in the news on some foul shit...Gets along and is well liked by everyone on the teams he's played for...In shape...Gotta go w/Rob...The whole game, and on the fantasy team too..

In the first 3 quarters I'd want Sheed. He's a great player and can have a great night anytime.

During the 4th quarter I'd want Horry. He's a big game player and has experience in the crunch

Fantasy I'd pick Sheed without a doubt. His numbers are alot better

See, I like how there are different factors in deciding who'd you'd pick and when you'd pick them. These are the type of matchups I'd like you guys to create as this thread grows. None of that Harry Potter vs Darth Vadar landslide victory bullshit.

LoL...

I've had this shit on my chest for quite sometime now, and I think that it's time I let it off...

Shaq vs Wilt Chamberlain

Which one of these guys would you all want on your team..?

In today's day and age, I want Shaq. Wilt was finesse, and Shaq is everything but. The bangers are the guys you want at center position now. Wilt was taller than everyone else, and actually preffered to go around people to score, now "going around people" would be a lot harder considering he'd be matched up against someone 6'10 as opposed to someone 6'4'' like back in his day.

And, when you think of Shaq's only weakness, it's his freethrows (his conditioning is a non factor if we're talking primes) But the only person who was arguebly worse than Shaq at freethrows was Mr. Wilt the Stilt.

Shaq has got to be the pick here. He does more for the community and is better with the media than anyone in the NBA, and he's just the most dominate force around. Wilt was the tallest force around when he played.

Bottom Line: Shaq!

Contrary to popular belief, LG, Wilt was both finesse and power...It is hard to finesse when you are triple teamed...Furthermore, back in his day, centers were 6'10, 6'11"...Wilt was only 7'1", but had super long fucking arms, and could pretty much touch the rim standing flat footed...Further more, height is irrelevant, as it has been shown Shaq can be bested by a smaller and quicker man...

In his prime, Shaq's game was more power than anything...He and Wilt were about the same size in his prime, hardly believeable that he'd bully Wilt like he does Danny Fortson and the likes...

Shaq, for his size, is a SHIT rebounder...He has never been a board monster...Charles Barkley is every bit of 6' 4", and a monster on the glass...Wilt consistently got his 20/20 on...For the SEASON...

Shaq is a good passer...And Wilt led the league in assists one season...I could go on and on, as statistically, there is no comparison...Let alone trying to measure game impact...

Plus Wilt was laying pipe to more chicks than anybody else in history...

Wilt in a Landslide...

I'd choose Wilt also. He could do everything. As A said, he was finesse and powerful. He knew what to do and when to do it. He was such a team player and made everyone else good. Shaq does that also but Wilt was just a better player I think

Wilt was not powerful man, period.

lmao yeah he was getting them hoes like no other.

Fact of the matter is... Wilt would not have dominated like he did in this day and age. There is no statistical way to measure it, but the players now are stronger, can jump higher, and play tougher. The game is much quicker now, it doesn't always entail waiting for your center to hobble down the court and lobbing it to him so he can throw it in.

Shaq isn't a shit rebounder, in today's day and age more people attack the boards. Guards made up for about 5% of the total rebounds in a game back then. Jason Kidd gets 10 a game, does that make him a better rebounder than Shaq? No.

Stats aren't everything. Shaq would KILL Chamberlain. He'd body him around until his skinny little frame could no longer take it. I don't even like this matchup to be honest, I think theres a more compelling matchup comparing Chamberlain to another center, but I'll go with yours. Chamberlain would not have the kind of impact that he did, today.

But...lets go ahead and label this one case closed.

Winner: Wilt Chamberlain
