Fuck the System, Troll the Threads!
I love to read and I guess I can get back to that since my long distance thing didn't work...Anyway...
I woke up to a black screen with a message stating that a file was missing (system32driversfastfat.sys) or corrupt and my operating system (Win XP) could not start. Here's what happened next, then next, then next:
ctrl + alt + del = Black screen with message Operating System not Found
Enter = Same as above
First thought = use recovery disk, wipe everything out and start over
Second thought = F1 to check setup (like I knew what I was looking for)
Changed OS to 'Other' since choices were Win98/Win2000, Win95 or Other
Exit Setup
ctrl + alt + del = Operating System not found
ctrl + alt + del
ESC during start up to boot to disk
Booted to CD-ROM with copy of WIN XP = System started
No viruses were detected
Systray was missing a few programs. They were still available though.
Error report from Microsoft. Report opened to a Microsoft page explaining the error which I had planned to include in this post, but as I started the post from home, my computer crashed again. I then saw the "Blue Screen of Death" with alot of words that I didn't read except the last few that said "Beginning dump of physical memory". I'm not sure but that sounds bad to me.
I shut the computer down and rebooted to the black screen with the missing file and missing OS.
Did I say help? And did I forget to mention the loud clicking noise coming from the CPU?
What should I do? Perform the recovery? Reinstall XP? Get a new computer? Stop downloading stuff from www.ayhja.net? :-k
I'm at work today playing catch-up and won't be on the forum to receive your reply. You can reach me directly at [email protected].
