Independent web analytics firm StatCounter confirms milestone as Chrome overtakes IE globally for first calendar month
“Browser wars back with a vengeance”
Boston, USA & Dublin, Ireland; Friday 1st June, 2012: After weeks of speculation, Google's Chrome has unseated Microsoft Internet Explorer to become the world's top internet browser for the first time for a full calendar month in May, according to StatCounter, the independent website analytics company. The firm's research arm StatCounter Global Stats says that Chrome surpassed IE for the first full day back in March and the achievement of the weekly milestone was widely reported on 21 May.
For the full month of May according to StatCounter data from over 15 billion page views, Chrome took 32.43% of the worldwide market compared to 32.12% for IE and 25.55% for Firefox.

Shiiii.. those are some huge, and somehow, superficial statistics.
It's nice to know, I get it, but there's some thing in my mind telling me who actually considers this as revelatory, or whenever it feels like, breaking, news.
I don't think I'm coming off well.
For however it counts, I am in the smaller statistic of whatever that remains, (~10% or less) as I am still an avid Opera user (6+ years steady).
But, to add, for every 25 times I get on the net, it is 20 times for Opera, 3 times for Chrome, and 2 times when I'm mobile-browsing, using some sort of iTunes/Safari hybrid.

i'll have to agree with you about all of your post. execpt for sometimes i also use firefox, and even ie when i am using windows. on my phone i have opera mini/mobile instaled but will usually use dolphin.
and for another fact that falls into the same catogory.
StatCounter Global Stats reports that for the fist time 1366x768 has become the most popular screen resolution worldwide, having overtaken 1024x768.
what is more, not much though, interesting is the geographic breakdown. (they only allow 90 days for a map, so march thru may 2012)

For years I have used Firefox as the default. For some sites I switch to Opera as it seems to handle them better. I am trying out Chrome on the laptop and it seems to work pretty nice.

This is how it goes for me...
Firefox - 75% of the time...
I mean, I just need the extensions...Nothing is better for the way I rip down the web...It just has too many tools for the things I need...
Chrome (Canary) - 25%
I have a great deal of things synced to my Google account, and this is the easiest way to manage them...I do like Chrome, but on my Android devices, it leaves a lot to be desired...I have every browser I can think of on Android, enjoying Maxthon at the moment...

Man, I've gotten so used to having NoScript and Flashgot. I know Opera has "widgets" but I've never really looked into them.

I haven't used a widget in a few years, and I only have had one extension installed (Download Media Bar) since they introduced them about a year or so ago.
Most of everything that I found once enhanced my user-experience in FF, are already integrally-installed within Opera.
