I went to my girl's grandmther's birthday party, and her whole family was there.

but Also, Her father's best friend came over, and it was Joe Patterson formally of the Washington Redskins (13th string draft pick by vince Lombardi). He is terribly intelligent, and not only could follow my conversations, he could lead the dance on the intellectual field as well.

I was suprised a NFL football player who was on Vince Lombardi's roster could actually have perhaps the only view of history as inclusive and controversial but CREDIBLE as my own that I have ever known.

He was great fun to talk to and we got along spledidly. He reminded me of Ty in likethirty or forty years, or so.

Does anyone know anything about his NFL history? I know he was inducted into the Lawrence Intercollegiate Hall of Fame in 1969, and went to bplay for Lombardi and the Redskins. He still trembles when he talks about that man's ability to focus a team of men to achieve an objective.

When did he play...like what year?


Also....contrary to many beliefs...football players are said to be the smartest of all athletes...as far as overall intelligence among the league. Most people think football players are big weight-lifting, steriod-injecting dumbies.....but they all have to go to college...and have you ever tried to learn 10 plays? Let alone the roughly 300+ they gotta learn....its tough mental work being a football player.

That must have been an AWESOME experience...Lombardi...Well, shit they named the most coveted trophy in all of football after him, so that says alot...I can't say I know any more facts about him though, but I bet it was great to have talked to him...

but he knows his shite. and he was a good ball player who loved the game, until neck injuries forced him into early retirement two years after going pro. he still suffers from those injuries. footballers be careful, man!

A sportswriter once called offensive tackle Joe Patterson "the Vikings' best football player." He was a three-time all-Midwest Conference selection, was picked for the Delta Tau Delta National Team, and earned 1969 Kodak All-America honors. He was a mainstay of the 1967 Vikings team that won the conference championship on top of a perfect 8-0 record. In 1969 he was a 13th-round National Football League draft pick by Vince Lombardi and the Washington Redskins.

The scary thing is he told me how much he made in the NFL at the turn of the 70's... about $1,000 a game. that was a game men loved to play, or didn't...
