This is a complete misnomer.
Sir Issac Newton's apple was an alchemical allegory.
Newton crsytallized iron to prove gravity's existence, this extraction process produces a gravitational effect, which forms a red crystal that is called the Stellum Rubae (Red Star). Schwaller DeLubicz (German Egyptologist) is the only man to reproduce it's effect, to date.
The stone is supposed to be used to trap spirits, who know the "marching order of heaven, and its military movements, as dictated by the celestial motions."
In effect, it gave astrological insight,.. And before anyone disputes this as opinion, note that of the 90+ books Newton said were required reading for any true scientist, over forty of them dealt with alchemy and astrology.
Read Michael White's "The Last Alchemist" for more on Newton's REAL story, which is remarkable.
