Innocent Until Proven Guilty

Are we, as a country, any closer to believing this than we ever have?
To me, people generally go the oppisite of this, as it is our nature to be skeptical.
Are we only kidding ourselves by instating this as a means of judging people's actions and their consequences?
Is there ever going to be a time when everyone adopts this theory?
I know I, for one, probably will always think in my mind that someone is guilty until proven innocent, I'm sure I'm not alone in that mindstate either.
Are we cynical and skeptical because of that, or is it just the way humans think?
What's your take on it?

Personally, I like the theory innocent until proven guilty, but there is always the possibility of error...And that's just the reality of it...I wouldn't take the stand guilty until proven innocent, because just like you're sitting there thinking someone should have to prove they're not guilty, it could very well be you in that position...Wrong place, wrong time can happen to anyone...I think I do well by at least trying to afford people the same reservation I would want for myself...
A crime is not always a crime, and nearly anything can be justified...It's circumstance, really...You're speeding along the freeway trying to get a hurt loved one to the hospital, and a cop pulls you over and takes you to jail...In that instance, who is guilty of what..?
I am skeptical, yes, but I think it is better to try not to assume anything...Sometimes, shit can be twisted to seem one way, when really, it is another...
I can't think of a scenario that would lead me to think otherwise...

Americans have not, nor ever will we likely be governed by a statute of "innocent until proven guilty."
Instead we have: "suspected until detained for evidence, and innocent when proven not guilty."
we should "just face it and embrace it, cause we ain't goin erase it."

I have always believed in innocent until proven guilty, and as far as I can tell, always will. It makes me sick to think of the people that spend years upon years of their lives in jail, waiting for their trial until they're finally proven innocent and let go. Granted they are amply compensated, money cannot buy longevity. I realize that we can't let suspects roam free until their hearings, for the sheer fact that they may indeed be guilty- but still. I would hate to know that I didn't do something, and then spend twenty years wasting away in jail regretting how I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
ANDDDDDDDD... HEY LOOK!!! IT'S MY 100TH POST!!! WOOT WOOT! /:D" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt=":D" />

I like this concept but I dont' think it works. The media twists things and really plays in like most people are guilty. I always try and think they're innocent until proven guilty (except for Michael Jackson...he was as guilty as hell)

"Innocent until proven guilty" it's an intresting concept.
Because is very common that we, as humans beings we are, think of it often as unnatural because in the heat of the moment we tend to act the other way. That's why that sentence is great it avoids us to make a big mistake.

The question was more like......yeah we're supposed to act that way......but does anybody really take it to heart?
