Okay...I'm sure this thread has been made before.> But ehh...

As some of you may know, Denver has legalized weed. And I heard a few other states did. Now I was talking to someone who said they should legalize it. And then he made a good point, the government makes money from it, because drug dealers buy houses, cars, etc.
And I ain't really too smart on this topic so it hought I would bring it here cause I learn better when I see people telling there views on both sides and shit. That's the kinda' learner I am. LoL..
So do you think it should be legalized? why?
Good for our economy or bad? Why.
And any other interesting questions on this topic..

Our constitution was written on hemp paper, and several of the people that signed it probably cheifed on a regular...
As raum said, as a drug, it has far greater healing tendencies than otherwise...Anything overconsumed, even plain water, can be harmful to the body...
Of the few times I've smoked, I've never done anything except make lots of jokes, and eat alot...I have never felt out of control, or the same kind of intoxication I felt when I have drank too much...They say that it kills braincells, but shit, there's not a real way they can know that anyway...The feeling that I got when I smoked weed was like "being in the zone" and everything I did seemed to have more focus...
Plenty of professionals do it and you wouldn't even know...And, though I can't prove it, I bet you that weed isn't as detrimental to your health as siggs are...

weed kills no more braincells than a coca-cola. The funny thing is that BRAINCELLS DIE EVERYTIME YOU THINK, ANYWAYS. In cases of EXTREME usage, it slows come cellular growth, but this has noted as having no lasting effect. No amount has ever resulted in a fatal overdose. It slows cancerous cells at much lighter doses, and this is generally regarded as a unique medicinal phenomenon. Marijuana is effectively, the "anti-cancer." Some fatalities linked directly to ingestion have been the result of allergies, or lung complications. Most cases of nausia have been linked to poor diet and exercise, or periods of stress.
BTW: Denver has not legalized weed. We have a thread regarding this exact topic in misc entitled "dro," I believe.

They should. Weed bad if you abuse it, just as is abusing big macs of any fast food for that matter. It is a positive thing to differenciate it from dangerous drugs. Putting it on the same level can drive young and inexperienced people to try hard drugs ("hey, I already did drugs so why not"). If it is kept on a separate level then it will be like alcohol. We can all enjoy it and just because some people abuse it does not mean that it shold be banned.

ok, weed is nothing like a big mac, man, but I see what you mean. everything in moderation.

I honestly don't care anymore. What I don't like is people doing it all the time. Kinda like some of my friends. It's annoying.

more annoying to me is the people who smoke dro because they bowed to peer pressure and not because they wanted to or need to, and so they CONSTANTLY try to get others to smoke even when you have no desire to. ARGH!!!

as far as whether or not it should be legal, i say yes..
the origins of the war on drugs in the US are so completely out dated and even laughable by todays world.
(read here for further history --

in my opinion, anyone who says weed is bad and then drinks a beer is a complete hypocrite. If you believe it to be bad due to health reasons, merely read above post by raum. Many others argue that it is a gateway drug, though i'm willing to bet an overwhelming majority of potheads had drank alcohol or smoked cigarettes first, so those would be the 'gateway drug', not weed. Even as far as personal affect on people, i have never seen a violent stoned person, and i've seen a lot of stoned people. I have however seen an uncountable number of violent drunks, drunk drivers killing people, and binge drinkers having to get their stomach pumped.
personally, i think the government has gotten it backwards.
Above all else one must also consider the billions of dollars the US would save by not trying to lock up every college kid with a bag of weed, and the billions more they would make from allowing it to be sold (think how much they make on cigarette taxes).

Agreed......I always joked that weed made me smarter.....but more focus could be the case.
I think its a shame that the only reason it is looked down upon by so many is because of the PEOPLE who are protrayed using it....the crazy idiots who shoot friends or themselves while high.....they didn't do it because the weed made them...they did it because they're fucking stupid.
Weed isn't bad for your health...your mind...or anything.....its only bad because stupid people get ahold of it...and feel a need to do stupid things in order to convince their friends they're high or in order to impress someone.....if you sit at home and smoke some green everyday....you probably live a better, happier life.

My cousin just returned home from Iraq, shot in the leg by friendly fire. Messed it up pretty bad. He is on some medication for pain that makes him very sick to his stomach and cannot eat. My dad was down to visit him and suggested he smoke a joint to help settle his stomach and get an appetite. Needless to say it worked. In my opinion smokin is no different than going out and drinking, if done in moderation. Like all things, anything can be bad if you make it that way (abuse). I don't ever see it being made "legal" for everyday use among the public, I do however think more attention needs to be given to the medical benefits of marijuana. Just my opinion.
