A BETA no more, head to the PORTAL and get a copy...

I'm fairly impressed with the upgrades, but I am anxiously awaiting to grab my optimized build, LoL...

I've run into a bit of a problem running Firefox at work... it won't load anything. The shell comes up, but I can't get af.ayhja.com, or yahoo.com, or nothing. It says something along the lines of "unable to locate http://*.*". I've even completely uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but still no go. I'm having to use IE for everything right now (and it sucks!). Any ideas or suggestions?

create a new profile...You can do that by modifying your shortcut...Right click on it, go to properties, and in your target window, put -p at the end...It would look like this for example:

CODE"C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe" -p

If that clears it up, I will tell you how to copy over all your bookmarks and stuff if you need me to, but try that first...

Thanks! I'll do that first thing Monday.

And actually M8's, I was mistaken, this is NOT the final, its the RC3...Since they dropped the RC off of the installer, I'd mistaken it for the real deal, and this version updates itself nicely, which I like...So, still no need to shed the optimized build just yet...

@DD

there may be some kind of proxy or firewall preventing unapproved applications from accessing the internet. you may also want to check the connection settings under options or see if you can connect if you put the ip address in the address bar instead of the url

ie: 64.233.161.147 = www.google.com
207.46.19.60 = www.microsoft.com
216.109.118.75 = www.yahoo.com

the error you mentioned sounds like a dns error or a no connection at all error. If the IP address method yields a successful connection, you will need to get your IT person to open up the restrictions and allow firefox to get thru the firewall.

I did download 1.5 but I'm redownloading 1.0. 1.5 doesn't have all my extensions yet and there are some that I just love to have

I tried what you said (both you and Ty) and nothing worked. It sounds like what you describe emanon, but I doubt I'll have much luck with the IT folks here... they're pretty sticky about what they want on their servers and workstations (just downloading Firefox in the first place was a "violation of company policy" which they tend to overlook unless you cause problems with it. So... I'll use Firefox at home and IE here at work. sigh...
