Are we alone?

Do you believe life on other planets? Aliens from other galaxies, etc... Or do you think we're alone in the universe?

No logic I can muster will allow me to think that we are the only hint of living organisms in this universe, and I doubt it anyone else can either...The nature of the way is too dynamic to feel that whatever it was that happened on earth, happened here and here only...

The argument could also made that there is No evidence to prove that there IS. I think extraordinary claims require EXTRA-ordinary proof. So far, I haven't seen any. At least not of intelligent life. Maybe there are plants or flowers out there somewhere on some distant planet, LOL. The funny thing is, the universe is so vast, the odds of any other beings living "near" us would be highly unlikely in my opinion. I think a lot of people want to believe though for some reason. When I see an alien on 60 minutes with Dan Rather, THEN I'll believe............

I'm with Ayhja on this one. I do believe that there is life on other planet and however it may be highly unlikely that they would be on a planet close to us but that does not dissolve that the fact that there is an almost certain chance of life being on another planet. Whether or not we can actually prove this theory is a different story and as LG pointed out we cannot prove the existence of god and although many might not believe in it on the other hand many others do. We cannot prove either one of the wrong. If seeing was believing then there would be many things that we believe at this moment will become falsified.

Space is so huge that no one can deny the possiblity that there is life on another planet for no one can actually explore all the planets and prove it (not right now anyway ... who knows about the future)

LG,

Do you care to try and prove I have no evidence of God's existence?

While I'm waiting for LG's answer (boy you just stepped in a huge pile of shit with that statement) to raum's question, let me first welcome nightbytes to the forums, we'd be glad to have you here, especially in VU...

What you say is true, there is no certain proof, but let us consider the odds...Each star has a solar system...I just find it illogical to think that we are the only form of intelligent life in this galaxy, let alone the universe...There are traces of simple life on Mars even, so we may not have been without other life even in our solar system, let alone the galaxy...

Not gonna even touch that certain parts of the bible and other old texts read like an episode of Stargate SG-1, when used to explain our existence...I don't think there is another planet like ours that is close, we won't be swapping galactic stories no time soon, but I have little to sway me of otherwise, if only using probability as proof...

Right and welcome to the forums, nightybites! BTW, who said life had to look like us? It could be limitless types of lifeforms.

Just analyzing how vast the universe is makes it almost impossible to believe we're alone. Take light years for example. A light year isn't a unit of time, but a unit of distance, meaning the distance light travels in one year. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second, not mph, MPS, so just imagine how far you'd get going 186,000 miles per second for one year strait. Now look at the fact that we know of stars that are MILLIONS of light years from Earth. Can you honestly assume that within that incredible distance we're the only living organisms floating in space? No fuckin' way.
