I just took the ACT after only getting like 4 hours of sleep because of the Temps' concert...

This is the standard highschool test for midwest Colleges...they mainly use your score here and your grade point average in determining wether or not you will be accepted. It contains 4 poritons..... the first is a 75 question english portion...60 minutes....its bascially a buncha paragraphs that have prashes or words underlined and you have to determine if it should be replaced because of gramatic or syntax...or if its fine how it is.... then it asks you to pick out a topic sentence or something....next (my speciaility) obviously wasn't spelling....but the math portion...60 questions--60 minutes....I didn't get a single question wrong on the first 45...but I ended up having to guess on 3 of them... A 10 minute break...then a 40 questions 35 minute reading portion....4 page long excerpts from like....one fiction...one non fiction...one autobiography...yada yada.... it was just a tougher version of what we've had to take since we were in 2nd grade.....then the science and reasoning portion...40 questions 35 minutes....its tons and tons of graphs and analysis.....data charts and expeiriments with controlled and uncontrolled variables.....I'm great at scienece but this section gave me a hard time.....I was probably tired by now and just had a hard time concentrating.....it is well palced because this section requires the most concentration at a time when most people are sick of this test........I think I missed probably 10 of these 40....and about 5 in the first 175.....

My whole junior class is required to take it in April...but there are oppurtunities to take it before hand...your highest school being the only one that counts...

the highest possible score is 36....there is no penalety for guessing....... the senior class at my highschool's average was a 19.2......... I got a 24 when I was in 7th grade...

I plan to take it again...my aim for this one was a 30-32..... and my final goal is a 35-36

results come back in 4-7 weeks.......

Good luck with it man. I never took them when I was in school. I faked being sick so my parents wouldn't make me go take them. Fast forward to 10 years later and I'm thinking that was a mistake since going to college seems like something I want to do before long now.

I remember taking the ACT, ah, those were good times...Those are some good scores...I would suggest that if you make above 25 this go round, which seems likely, to not even take it again...I didn't take the test beyond the 10th grade, and got good enough to get rides to the schools I wanted to go to...Submit your scores and a resume w/the app to the schools you really want to go to...Laminate your resume, send it in a soft envelope...You'll be batting a grand...

If I got a 24 in 7th grade....theres no doubt in my mind I'm going to get over a 25 on this one.......whats the deal with you?! telling me 25 is good enough? If I can get a 36 and get into an ivy league school on a full ride...considering my athletic and attendance records....why stop at 25?

::gives mentor a kick in the seat of his pants:: wheres the motivation?!

Its just that I'm not gonna lie to you Homez...College, like most things, is what you make of it...

You look better, having took the test in the 7th grade and made 24, and taking it again in the 10th, and making whatever, than taking the test trying to achieve a score that is as good assumed, as it is in reality...Gifted people will rarely find motivation that is not of their own doing...

I offered you direction based on professionalism in an arena where there aren't many, you are more than a test score Son, you are someone who has belittled a tremendous academic achievement with a laminated construct full of accolades and accomplishments...

"Yeah, I made a 33 on my ACT in the 10th, but my 11th grade year I was recognized by my shcool for having done excellent community service with the local hospital (socially conscious), I was captain of our varsity football team, and an All State athletic and academic performer (a team player), and I founded the first chapter of Young American Businessmen and Women in our schools history (Savvy)..."

IE, yeah, I had 24 points on 8 of 11 shooting, but did you see that I had 15 assists and 17 rebounds..? Everybody is going to be gunning for that 36, thinking that's gonna get them the ride they need...What makes your 36 different from anybody elses...

** sigh...How many times I gotta tell you that you can't kick what you can't see **

if that doesnt work you can always take your friend ben franklin to the interview and make sure to introduce him to the people making the decision on your fate.

Good luck on yor ACT I got a 33 on the pre-ACT wthout studying. I was laid up in a cast for the ACT, so I couldn't take them.

I still haven't gone to more than one semester of college, about five years ago.. but I matriculated all my English, Science, Math, and History class equivalences; so there's really no classes to take but business, computers and humanities. I focused on Structured Programming, and Anthropology (linguistics in religious anthro) and Anthropology (ethnography in cultural anthropoolgy). I tested out of my classes in Anhropology, was reprimanded for forumlating my Thesis in my first semester, they stripped my triple major from me because my teacher thought I was too involved even though I was making all A's, and so I never went back. I had been trying for an honorary graduate degree program at UC Berekley, in the Graduate Theological Union.

I'll prolly do some business with my new grip, cause I just heard they are ready to invest in me long-term, and are considering making me part of the associate executive program if/when they make me permanent. I'm already getting invites to the meetings, and attended one last week. and I am getting paid to go.

I heard of a Christian College that is very well accepted that teaches business courses online and they are super cheap and well recieved in th business world. I heard they require you to take a biblical history class, though...

Anyone see me having a problem in an online biblical history class when my thesis was on King Solomon?

The thing is.....I don't have that many community things to report on....I understand colleges look for that moreso than grades...but seeing as how I don't have too much of it....GREAT grades are important
