ok, i got my girl a new computer...
Check it out Here
And it is not bad. It definitely has me looking for a tablet pc convertible notebook. It is invaluable for the artist or photographer, and sometimes its just nice to write.
I like this style of computer, and think it is worth mentioning that the convertible notebook is a perfect tool for a modern professional or student. It enables you to record meetings while jotting notes (heard thye mic isn't that sensitive, though), it takes things like crossword puzzles to a new level, and some games interact well with the pen/mouse substitution. The plastic film can be left on the screen for longevity, and for the $349 warranty, you get four years complete service and replacement and three screen replacements. You have to buy extra RAM (up to 2 gigs), and it interacts well with extrenal drives. Also, the battery is an external unit, but that means you can purchase another and leave it on the charger. In short, once she figures out how to configure it, it will be well worth it, and the wireless modem is capable of sniffing out even the weakest signals of distant hotspots.
The problem is that it is a gateway, and comes with so much FREE crap you are unable to use it because it all needs to update when you pull it out of the box, and when everything has to update at once, it just locks up. Not the fault of ther machine, just beyond its limits.
