The Age of Men
Reading the bible...You notice lots of things...Reading every post on the forum, you notice lots of things that aren't even there...
I was thinking today, about men's and their ages...In the bible, men lived a CRAZY long time...Hundreds of years...This day and age, you're lucky to hit 30...What do you think is the meaning of it..? Is it literal..? Was Methuselah really 969 years old when he died..? Or does that number symbolize something else..? What would you say happened then, or didn't happen then, that men don't live nearly as long now, even if they live as healthy a life as possible..? A missing nutrient we no longer have, a natural evolution that comes with heavy population..?

Deterioration of the production of HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is what causes aging. There are meditations that keep HGH flowing, and some even claim to replenish it. Many of these meditations are based on ancient techniques. The effectiveness is more about you than what technique you use. I use certain techniques to do this. Thus, I am thirty, and some people think I look "almost twenty."

Under the hindu scriptures, many people through meditation were able to live over a very long period of time who devoted their entire lives to this meditation of a certain hindu god. It is written that they suffered harsh weather conditions as well as time but did not age a bit due to the deep trance they were in and as such the soul had in a way seperated from their body but still with their body if it means anything.
There are many examples of this in the hindu holy scriptures. I guess thats another prime example of how many religions share the same kinds of stories just in different forms.

The appearance of aging comes from a shortage of some cells.....(Crap....shoulda took notes at the biology conferance two years ago)....it stops the color pigmentation in hair...which is why hair appears whiter when you're older....but in actuality..its clear....no pigmentation at all..........and it has other affects...man if i wasnt so busy socializing and shit I would have got a lot mroe out of that conferance.

The Bible is subject to various forms of interpretations, though some info are actual. It is possible that Methuselah might not represent one man, but a cluster, a line with a combined lifespan of 969 years.
Scientifically, it's not possible, people from the Bible are of the same species obviously as us. Each species, such as Homo sapiens has a defined lifespan, even in the presence of certain nutrients which might be absent today.
If we cannot explain it, then we resort to God, that nothing is impossible with Divine Intervention.

Surely though, there has to be something to the longevity of some...Some people smoke all their lives man, and don't catch nothing that looks like cancer...
My grandmother's baby sitter lived to be like...114...This woman had lived a century, and didn't even need a cane or a walker to get around...It was amazing...She was old enough to have seen SO much man...Lots of death, and lots of life...She said that when she was younger, she had 2 dresses...One for sunday, and one for every other day...And she washed her clothes every night...
She dipped snuff right up until the end...Wow man...
I am convinced that there must be some sort of nutrient that we are missing out on that would prolong life...Calcium perhaps..? I know that calcium is the main nutrient that acts to break down other nutients...I remember taking calcium supplements once, and maybe it was just in my mind, but I felt great...I heard about it because of an informercial about a sect of people that mined coral calcium, and had it in their diets...They were naturally healthy people...All subject to speculation of course, but in theory, it makes a bit of sense...
We know that before the flood, that the earth was in a different state...There have been trees found I believe that don't have growth rings, meaning they grew year around...Perhaps that has something to do with the human life also, and after the flood, and over time, that aspect which kept things alive before then, gradually phased out of the human evolutinary process...

I didn't know that aragonite was nourishing for the body (and mind)...........
Aragonite is unstable in the terrestrial environment, so it becomes calcite. Would calcite still deliver the same benefits?

I'm not sure if it is the same, Calcium and what you're talking about, but as it pertains to the body, calcium is awesome...
It is essential in the healthy functioning of the circulatory and nervous systems...The kind I am talking about comes from coral, which is in the ocean, and inhabitants that live near these waters and drink it, are thus getting the vitamin that way...
Of course, people say bullshit, but they say the same thing about space travel, so...I guess its like all other things, what you make of it...

Regarding Methusalah and the longevity
Consideration 1:
It is of interest to note that the hebrew in the geneologies, including the statement of Methusalah, is post-David, and is part of the recapture of the Torah into a written form, after the Jews are freed from the Babylonians. This is when the tribes get together and try to add continuity to some of the conflicts in their Oral traditions, which were preservations of their sacred teachings and ancestors.
It is likely there were conflicts in the Traditions of the families that claimed ancestry to Methusalah (and others), and by math the priests concluded that to appease and validate all the claims he mst have live a certain number of years. At least two prophets in the Tanakh condemn the priesthood for changing the words of the Book, for money or social prestige.
Consideration 2:
The most important thing to note is the formulation of the 365 days of a year is a relatively recent invention, and the original calendars were lunar. It could have been that Methusalh lived 969 cycles of the moon, which would have made him about 81, when he died. There was also a point when the Season, and then the Equinox was a the mark of an *annual* cycle.
The oldest concept of a year, by the way, is the "seasonal" year. This is the idea that "the river floods every year", and so everytime the river floods, it has been a *year.*
Consideration 3: (further definition of Consideration 1)
The actual word for a solar year in Hebrew is "Yom" (as in Yom Kippur) - the word "year" in is different.
And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
The Aramaic word "Shaneh" is used. This word is translated as year, but is actually the pularal of shanah, which meach "repeat, do once again, lifetime." but also "disguise, to change or alter." Needless to say the word is difficult to conclude. In fact, in the english bible there are 55 times where it is "left out" because in their use of the word as year, it makes no sense.
The context, however, is only apparent, when you consider the myths of the jews are based in Caanante culture, and the mning is clear " And Methuselah died lived a long life full of all that life had to offer."
Hoever, the word Yom also means not just Year, but Day... and in fact this says the follwing:
And let there be, and there was- all yom of-Mathoo-shelekh nine and-three-score shaneh and-nine was-killed [that]shanah final-Yom.
now, you can see how easy it is to question the translation.
